The Music Director will effectively:
Teach and lead volunteer musicians of all levels
Inspire musical creativity among the musicians
Build relationship, trust, and cohesiveness musicians/bands
Create and distribute charts to each musician
Schedule and lead all band/musician rehearsals
Collaborate on and create new music for Spirit Garage
Manage and navigate interpersonal conflicts as they arise
Clear and timely communication (both written and oral)
Perform in bands regularly
Lead auditions, as needed
Plan, choose, and coordinate music, which fits with the desired theme for each service, service series, church season, and events
Collaborate and communicate effectively with the Pastor, other staff, and volunteers.
Schedule and organize additional musical outreach events, concerts, and gigs at the discretion of the Pastor and Music Director
Work cohesively with the Spirit Garage leadership teams
Attend required meetings
Schedule and lead meetings/trainings, as needed.
Carry the Spirit Garage mission in and outside the doors of Spirit Garage
Ensure each service includes a welcome which draws people in and fluidly transitions between aspects of each service
Encourage congregational participation in the music
Show flexibility, step in, or adapt, as needed
Support and assist in rolling out any changes made to the structure of the overall service(s), as determined by the Pastor
Be competent at running sound board;
Coordinate music and tech volunteers.
