NUMBER OF DAYS: 187 Days
COMPENSATION PLAN: Education Association Collective Bargaining Agreement
Education and Experience:
Minimum Education: MA/MS in Speech Language Pathology, PA Certificate in Speech and Language Impaired or Educational Specialist Certification; Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech Language Pathology and/or PA State License in Speech Language Pathology Preferred
Minimum Experience: 0 to 3 Years directly-related experience
General Definition:
The Speech and Language Pathologist provides speech and language services to school students. The therapist may plan, implement, consult and advise the schools and families regarding impaired students. Specific duties may vary between employers and districts.
Description of Duties:
Assesses and evaluates student abilities and needs
Assists in determining the development of IEP goals and objectives
Attempts to determine cause of the individual student deficiencies
Consults with staff and parents
Develops and implements behavior modification programs in conjunction with IEP team
Develops intervention strategies and necessary treatment plans
Develops screening programs
Develops activities to meet specific student goals
Helps determine student eligibility
IEP goals may be set for the classroom, home or within the community
Implements IEP(Individualized Education Program) process
Provides all necessary and pertinent information to IEP team as a member
Processes teacher referrals
Provides appropriate learning environment for student
Provides group or individual therapy
Provides in-services, training and consultation to staff, school personnel and parents
Reevaluates student overall progress and provides timely reports to meetings.
Therapy records and documentation maintained
Writes progress, prognosis and recommendation reports
Complies with administrative and regulatory policies
Provides referrals for related services
Meets with staff, parents and other involved personnel
Provides consistent communication via written and oral
Works with community agencies and services
Attends and speaks at school related meetings
Performs all other duties as assigned by Executive Director or designee.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of documentation standards and demonstrate skill to meet documentation expectations
Knowledge of speech and language development and disorder as well as the responsibilities of an SLP in the field of special education
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written
Knowledge of pertinent law and regulations regarding speech and language service delivery and Pennsylvania Special Education
Ability to work with diverse groups of students in various socioeconomic and multicultural areas.
Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Other:
Act 114 (Federal Criminal History), Act 34, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History Clearance and Act 126 (Mandatory Reporter) clearances as well as valid PA driver’s license.
Clearances must be current within 5 years from date of hire and a School Personnel Health Record current within 1 year from date of hire accompanied by Tuberculosis Test Result within 3 months of date of hire.
Travel Requirements:
A minimal to moderate amount of travel is required for this position within Westmoreland County and throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
