Overview
The Richardson School (100% employee owned!) is now accepting applications for a Speech-Language Pathologist position at our Brookfield location!
The Richardson School provides a year-round school option for local districts to access for children with special needs. Typically these children have been dual diagnosed with developmental or neurological disabilities and emotional, behavioral or mental health disorders. The Company serves children with a range of intellectual disabilities, including those who are non-verbal. We serve children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, Asperger's syndrome, pervasive developmental disorders, learning disabilities, neurological impairments, behavioral disorders, speech and language impairments, genetic disorders, seizure disorders and other neurological disabilities. Children with developmental disabilities, as well as multiple medical conditions, including sight or hearing impairments, are also carefully considered for services, depending on other diagnostic features.
This position is a full-time position depending on caseload. The Speech and Language Pathologist will work under the direction and supervision of the Education Curriculum Coordinator. This position will develop and execute specific components of a speech and language program as specified in an individualized educational plan (IEP).

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluation and treatment of students with disorders in speech/language and cognition.
  • Development of goals, objectives, treatment plans and materials for the treatment of speech/language and cognitive impairments; including activities, low technology AAC, etc.
  • Data recording, billing and daily, quarterly, and annual written communication of students' progress and current levels.
  • Staff training on use of speech/language strategies, AAC Systems to implement in the classrooms, etc.
  • Attendance at meetings including IEPs, weekly staffing, training/education.
  • AAC programming, report-writing, and implementation.
  • Communication with outside school district staff, families, and vendors.
  • Assistance with priorities/behavioral interventions

Wages/Benefits:
  • Full time, 1st shift
  • Wages/Salary starting at $74,000 based on experience.

Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Educational and certification requirements as necessary to function as a staff therapist.
  • Possesses upon hire or applies for within one (1) month of starting, state certification and licensure and maintains same, not allowing it to lapse.
  • Preference for at least 1 year of experience.
  • Experience in AAC instruction and evaluation.
  • Satisfactory performance and attendance record.
  • Ability and willingness to implement approved de-escalation and intervention techniques as in-serviced by company.
  • Requires mental and emotional ability to remain calm, polite, and function effectively during stressful/emergency situations, and with students who may be unruly, demanding, cognitively challenged or exhibit behavioral outbursts.
