Position Responsibilities
Speech Language Pathologists provide care to patients based on the application of scientific speech therapy principles. Responsibilities of the Speech Language Pathologist include (but are not limited to):

  • Uses written and oral tests, as well as special instruments, to diagnose the nature and extent of impairment
  • Analyzes speech, language and swallowing irregularities
  • Develop an individualized plan of care tailored to each patient's needs
  • Selects augmentative or alternative communication methods, including automated devices and sign language, and teaches their use to individuals with little or no speech capability
  • Teaches those with little or no speech capability how to make sounds, improve their voices, or increase their language skills to communicate more effectively
  • Provides SLP interventions to assure nutrition/hydration and to reduce the risk of aspiration including airway clearance techniques and respiratory muscle strengthening
  • Helps patients who have suffered loss of speech develop, or recover, reliable communication skills, so patients can fulfill their educational, vocational, and social roles
  • Writes and maintains patient case notes and reports
  • Educates and counsels families, caregivers, and other professionals
  • Performs other position-related duties as assigned

Other Responsibilities
  • Reviews and adheres to all Company policies and procedures and the Employee Handbook
  • Complete required orientation as directed by CHHA
  • Follow agency and OSHA safety rules and procedures while on assignment
  • Respect cultural and religious practices of patients
  • Uphold HIPAA regulations
  • Punctual and dependent for assigned/confirmed shifts

Position Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited SLP program
  • Current SLP license, in good standing with the State licensing board
  • Minimum of two (2) years SLP experience, preferably in corresponding setting
  • Cognitive skills as related to the position

Pay Range: $31.00-$41.00/hr
Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.

In addition, Oswego Health includes the Oswego Health captive professional corporation, Physician Care P.C., providing physician services in orthopedics, cardiology, ENT, gastroenterology, breast care, audiology, general surgery, bariatrics, and primary care.
