Responsibilities:
- Assess and diagnose speech, language, and swallowing disorders in patients of all ages
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans to address communication and swallowing goals
- Provide therapy sessions to improve speech, language, and swallowing abilities
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure optimal outcomes
- Document patient progress and maintain accurate records
- Educate patients and their families on speech therapy techniques and strategies for continued improvement
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field of speech pathology
Skills:
- Acute care experience, particularly in a medical setting
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to speech pathology
- Experience working in critical care settings, such as ICU or emergency departments
- Proficiency in conducting speech therapy sessions for pediatric patients
- In-depth understanding of anatomy and physiology related to speech and swallowing functions
- Ability to provide case management services, including coordinating with other healthcare providers and insurance companies
- Excellent patient care skills, including empathy, active listening, and effective communication
