The Academic Coach is flexible and adaptable with a high degree of organization, facilitation, and management. Minimum QualificationsAppropriately certified in designated content areasMaster's degree in education related fieldKnowledge of state standards and researched-based instructionDemonstrated classroom teaching abilityDemonstrated leadership skills Core Job FunctionsUtilize content and instructional expertise as well as professional development leadership to achieve goals of the District strategic plan goalsKeep abreast of and interpret current research, curriculum development, and instructional strategiesDevelop curriculum and facilitate curriculum writingCommunicate effectively between sites and grade levelsCommunicate effectively between the classroom and curriculum directorWork closely with instructional services departments (curriculum, special education, Title, professional development) to actively seek out, develop and implement new and promising best practices and/or programs to increase learning opportunities for all studentsSupport teachers in curriculum implementationServe as a liaison for state and national educational reforms and with other districtsFacilitate program developmentDevelop and instruct professional development classes based on student achievement needs, site, and district goalsBuild content, instruction, and assessment capacity at school sitesWork effectively with principals and teachers in improving site instructional programsModel research-based instructional techniques and strategies in the classroom as well as conducting professional developmentDisaggregate and analyze test data and then assist in the interpretation of the data for school improvementEffectively plan and teach adults, in both a group and individual setting, to understand and communicate the implications of the changes needed in today's public educational systemPerform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisorCore Values/Professional QualitiesExcellence in all we do.
