Job description

The Credit and Customer Account Specialist is responsible for processing all new customer credit applications, assessing credit worthiness within our guidelines as well as working with customers to resolve past due accounts receivable.
Key Accountabilities:
• Process credit applications and assess creditworthiness of existing or prospective customers.
• Make recommendations to extend credit within the defined company policy.
• Ensure credit reviews are current and performed timely.
• Review customer credit exposure to ensure appropriate credit limits are set and elevate as needed to coincide with company guidelines.
• Process credit card payments as needed.
• Review delinquent Customer Accounts and contact as needed to secure past due balance.
• Monitor accounts with cash in advance, letter of Credit and progressive billing terms as well as coordinate payments through customer service.
• Elevate accounts for collection, legal action or bad debt.
• Research and resolve customer payment discrepancies.
• Promote a strong collaborative relationship between internal departments.
• Provide timely and accurate monthly reporting of financial results including identification of fluctuations and variances.
Competencies:
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software and should be advanced in Excel.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to effectively present in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Qualifications
• Associate's degree in Accounting, Bachelor's degree preferred
• 2+ years of experience
• Combination of experience and/or education will be considered
