Position: Special Events Trainee
Reports to: Special Events Department
Job Type: Full-Time or Part-time April 1st, 2024 – October 25th, 2024
Salary: $1,750 Bi-Weekly
Summary:
Headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO, the Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association (MLBPAA) is a non-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization founded in 1982 with the mission of promoting the game of baseball, raising money for local charities and serving the unique needs of former players.

The Special EventsTrainee is responsible for the production, facilitation, and execution of youth clinics, coaches clinics, and Special Events run by Major League Baseball Players Alumni Association. The position would be remote based, but with frequent travel, and would need to be located near a larger airport.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Plan and execute the designated yearly goal of Legends for Youth, Coaches Clinics, and Special Events
  • Coordinate and schedule local alumni for various events by communicating event expectations, answering questions, and sending reminders
  • Travel domestically to put on events in underserved communities by working with clinic hosts, Little Leagues, and MLB Teams and work to build relationships with hosts
  • Communicate with clinic sites to ensure successful events from beginning to end
  • Generate new events and network while on the road and working remotely
  • Serve as liaison between former players, current players, and outside partners (charities, organizations, foundations, and other groups)
  • Work collaboratively with the membership, memorabilia, marketing, and communication departments

Qualifications and Preferred Skills:
  • Working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a related field
  • Relative experience in events, marketing, and/or communications is preferred
  • Willing to travel extensively during the months of the position, primarily on the weekends
  • Ability to work remotely and be self-motivated
  • Experience in baseball or softball is preferred
  • Ability to present information concisely and effectively in both verbal and written manners
  • Ability to maintain composure, think clearly, and perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Be able to bring in new ideas to help increase efficiency, productivity, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
