Qualifications:Special Education Supervisor Certification or willing to acquireMaster's degree from an accredited universityValid Michigan teaching certificateExperience working with Special Education students at elementary and secondary level Job Duties: Provide supervision to district staff and programsSupervise Special Education programs for all disabilitiesInterpret state and federal regulations governing Special Education and ensures compliance in assigned Special Education functional areasSupport data collection systems and advise the building teams in the implementation of data collection systems and analysis of the data to support data-informed decision making and effective instructional practicesServe as a resource and advisor to principals and teachers regarding assigned Special Education programsSupervise and evaluate the work of Special Education departmental personnel in assigned areas of responsibilitiesAssist in developing and conducting staff development for Special Education instructional staff in assigned areas of responsibilitiesCoordinate meetings with specialists, teachers, administrators and disseminate information regarding current developments and teaching practices in the fieldProvide guidance and training to Special Education teachers in IEP development, review and revisionMonitor the development and updating of IEPs, REEDs, MDRs and BIPs by district staffCollaborates with school staff to work effectively with the families of student with IEPsActs as a liaison between the district, the community, Special Education students and their families to develop, direct and/or facilitate appropriate transition activities to address students' post-secondary employment and training goalsModel nondiscriminatory practices in all activitiesAssume any other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Special Education The Lansing School District accepts on-line applications only.
