POSITION OVERVIEW
Prince George's Christian Academy (PGCA) stands as the premier educational institution in Prince George's County, Maryland, offering a dynamic platform for students from PK2 to 8th grade. At the heart of PGCA's mission is a STEM-focused curriculum that empowers students to think critically and creatively. The school's dedication to nurturing young minds extends beyond traditional education, encompassing holistic development and a strong emphasis on Christian values. The school day is from 7:25 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
The Spanish Teacher is a born-again college graduate who feels called of God to the teaching profession. They will prayerfully help students learn attitudes, skills, and subject matter that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christians to the praise and glory of God.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach Spanish classes as assigned following prescribed scope and sequence as scheduled by the administrator and integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout the curriculum and activities.
- Motivate students to accept God's gift of salvation and help them grow in their faith through their witness and Christian role modeling.
- Cooperate with the administration in implementing all policies, procedures, and directives governing the operation of the school.
- Maintain a clean, attractive, well-ordered classroom, while keeping proper discipline in the classroom and on the school premises for a good learning environment.
- Plan broadly through the use of annual and quarterly plans and objectives, and plan weekly through the use of a Lesson Plan Book, and submit weekly lesson to the administrator weekly prior to the beginning of the week in which the lesson plan addresses.
- Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and maintain regular and accurate grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student's progress.
- Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration.
- Follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with conflict with students, parents, staff, and administration.
- Attend and participate in scheduled devotional, in-service, retreats, committee, faculty, and Parent Teacher Fellowship meetings.
- Must be a member in good standing of a local, Bible believing church that has a Statement of Faith in agreement with the school's Statement of Faith.
- Must be a college graduate and have passed the Praxis I or pass it before June 2024.
- Bachelor’s degree in education in Spanish or eligible for a conditional certification in Spanish (native Spanish speaker, Spanish major or at least 30 credits in Spanish courses).
- MA in Spanish or MS in Education preferred
- Must be proficient in Spanish and able to read, write and teach in both English and Spanish.
- Must be proficient with technology and able to integrate technology into the educational environment.
- Have a passion for teaching and working with children. Prior teaching experience, preferred.
- Have received Jesus Christ as his/her personal Savior and believe that the Bible is God's Word and standard for faith and daily living.
- Be in whole-hearted agreement with the school's Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.
- Be a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions toward others. This includes being committed to God's Biblical standards for sexual conduct. Luke 6:40.
- Maintain a personal appearance that is a Christian role model of cleanliness, modesty, good taste, and agreement with school policy.
- Respectfully submit and be loyal to constituted authority.
