Space Planner

Overview
Overseas Buildings Operations Bureau (OBO) of the US Department of State has an ongoing program to design, construct, lease, equip, maintain, repair, replace and enhance United States Government structures and facilities overseas. The Management Support Division of OBO is seeking a Space and Renovations Planner to manage the space, and renovations required for the domestic locations housing the OBO staff.
Responsibilities

• Analyze space requirements and renovation needs, for more than 1,000 staff persons, in
  multiple Washington Metro locations.
• Develop space plans.
• Consult with and provide advice and guidance to division directors and division
  representatives regarding space planning.
• Develop AutoCAD architectural and engineering drawings used by GSA contractors,
  lessor, other Department entities, and OBO.
• Provides AutoCAD technical expertise and mentoring within the General Services Branch.
• Advise OBO on the negotiation with GSA, OPR, and property managers regarding current
  and future space requirements and lease conditions.
• Surveys and analyzes available space
  for OBO use.
• Prepares and defends justifications and projections of OBO space needs.
• Coordinate renovation related moves, relocation of employees, equipment, and furnishings
  within OBO and between OBO and other Department tenants.
• Analyze OBO cross-functional property management issues and problems, providing
  recommendations and solutions.
• Initiate modular furnishing schemes, draft scaled furniture, and equipment placement
  plans.
• Develop overall designs, including detailed drawings, schedules, construction
  specifications, furnishings and equipment specifications, cost proposals, purchasing
  instructions and installation instructions.
• Coordinate and oversee all related deliverables and installations.
• Prepare project plans, communications and status documents, budget documents to include
  allocation and burn of funds, and statistical reports.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
• Mastery in programming, space planning, furniture plans, finish specifications, database,
  presentation boards, detail documents and construction drawings for a variety of projects.
• Ability to develop architectural drawings and presentations with the most current versions of AutoCAD, graphic/illustration software, and MS software.
• Expertise in conducting field surveys & inspect installation progress.
• Skilled in verifying existing conditions as well as inspect installation progress for contractcompliance.
• Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
