Position Overview:
Sous Chef will direct and oversee the daily activities of assigned team members under the direction of the Chef. They also train, develop, motivate and coach assigned team members. This position assists the Food and Beverage Managers in ensuring the safe, smooth, and efficient operation of the kitchen both in guest view and back areas while providing an excellent guest experience.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Duties:
Guest Services:
- Plan and manage food preparation
- Greet and interact with guests, address inquiries, and handle escalated guest issues or concerns promptly.
- Empower and train staff to resolve minor issues and provide solutions independently.
- Manage customer queues, lines, and flow to minimize wait times.
Staff Supervision:
- Supervise the operation of the Food and Beverage locations and staff members. Making sure staff members are taking breaks on time and according to break schedules.
- Ensure the team is welcoming, friendly, attentive and provides our guests with proper education on our offerings.
- Ensure that there is always adequate staffing of cashiers, runners, bartenders, etc.
- Assign duties, responsibilities, and workstations to employees in accordance with work requirements.
- Monitor food and drink portions, production, and preparation.
- Coach and train other team members.
Training, Development and Support:
- Opening and closing building with focus on health code and completing checklists
- Ensure and maintain a strong knowledge of menu offerings, including ingredients, preparation methods and special items.
- Aid and support staff members during busy periods or with complex transactions.
- Ensure staff members follow health and safety regulations, alcohol service laws, and other relevant guidelines.
- Train staff on Food and Beverage policies and procedures.
- Recommend measures for improving work procedures and worker performance to increase service quality and enhance job safety.
- Continually train team members in food preparation, service, sanitation, and safety procedures.
Communication:
- Communicate food and beverage needs with the food and beverage managers as well as the manager on duty to ensure smooth food and beverage operations.
- Share feedback on food and beverage staff performance with the food and beverage manager.
- Submit detailed end of shift recaps to the food and beverage manager.
- Contribute to regular meetings to share information, address team concerns and discuss updates.

- Excellent problem solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework or degree in related field a plus.
- Experience in managing recipes and food preparation.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to give direction and also take direction.
