Sourcing Process Intern
Role Description:
USG Strategic Sourcing is responsible for the procurement of raw materials and goods & services that contribute to the manufacturing of our products. Within the Sourcing group, the Procurement Excellence team strives to equip the Sourcing group with the policies, procedures, tools, and assistance needed to accomplish their strategic goals.
The Sourcing Process Intern will work within the Procurement Excellence team to support procurement initiatives and provide crucial insights. The primary objective of the internship will be to support cost savings and efficiency opportunities through data and process improvement. Your activities may include:
- Creating and updating procurement manuals, purchasing policies, SOPs, and SOWs in line with operational needs and procurement best practices.
- Executing procurement excellence operations using USG’s Oracle ERP system, reporting tools, and other job-related solutions.
- Creating flowcharts and detailing step-by-step process instructions for key purchasing & procurement activities in collaboration with team members to improve process efficiencies.
- Developing procurement metrics for category/item spend management in conjunction to data analysis to support cost improvement initiatives.
- Working closely with Sourcing Analytical Intern on data corrections through purchasing process and its behaviors.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in an accredited business, supply chain, or manufacturing program.
- Ability to work in a high pace environment.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Understanding of statistics and data analysis.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- PowerBI, Tableau, or other reporting experience is welcomed.
Location:
This is in-person position: Monday – Thursday in the office; Fridays – work from home.
Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
