Solidworks Designer/Draftsman

We have an immediate need for a full-time Drafter/Designer who has the ability to perform a range of drafting and designing assignments. All equipment is analyzed using advanced computational fluid dynamic (CFD), finite element analysis (FEA) and civil / structural software codes to ensure process performance and structural integrity. All mechanisms are fully designed in a 3-D CAD environment to produce the highest quality and most customer-friendly designs possible. All equipment is modeled by the drafter in SolidWorks using information from the customer’s sketches, specifications, and drawings.

Applicants must be able to work a minimum of 8 hours per day Monday through Friday. Salary DOE.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Draw structural, mechanical, and engineering details of equipment, structures, and more using SolidWorks
  • Review sketches, drawings, and specifications to understand the constraints when designing equipment
  • Compute and verify mathematical data
  • Determine materials necessary to meet planning criteria, coordinate the work, and change as necessary
  • Visit fabrication shops to inspect the equipment and ensure the final product matches the drawing created by the designer
  • Prepare a variety of detail drawings that are clear and complete from sketches or layouts before submitting to the Project Manager
  • Exercise independent judgment creating CAD drawings, including scale, proper views, and dimension placement.
  • Create detailed scale layouts of parts and assemblies for complex equipment showing specification tolerances, dimensions, and material to be used
  • Check the accuracy of work performed by other designer team members
  • Self-schedule and regularly report schedule to Project Manager
  • Compare design of component or other equipment with drawing of parts, matching coordinating points for accuracy of fit
  • Compile equipment submittal packages for customer review and approval

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or working toward Associate’s.
  • 2-5 years experience with Solidworks design software with minimum CSWA certification
  • Ability to travel domestically, as needed
  • Solid understanding of drafting techniques
  • Knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, and general mathematics
  • Detail, accuracy, and outcome oriented
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communications including ability to prepare drawings from a variety of written and verbal instructions
  • Team player who collaborates well with internal staff and external customers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years work experience
  • CSWP certification
  • Experience in the water/wastewater industry, specifically sedimentation equipment
  • Knowledge/training in the ANSI Y-14 drafting standard
  • Steel design and drafting or steel fabrication experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Sitting, bending, moving around facility
  • Talking, hearing, seeing, and working at computer/desk
