Job Description
Duties:
- Familiarity with lofting/surfacing tools in SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD software tools)
- Develop design models and engineering drawings for new vehicle products and components.
- 2+ years working with CAD experience exclusively with SolidWorks.
- 2+ years practical experience using advance surfacing modeling in any CAD program
- Collaborate with product manager and designers to understand design requirements and translate them into visually appealing and manufacturable surface designs.
- Create 3D surface models, develop concept sketches, and perform surface modifications and refinements based on design feedback and technical requirements.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and suppliers to optimize the surface design for aerodynamics, structural integrity, and overall vehicle performance.
- Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in automotive design, surfacing, and visualization techniques.
- Responsible for all aspects of product design, including but not limited to R&D, concept generation and development, testing, component sourcing and product improvement of automotive products.
- Creates 3-D models, prototypes and detailed drawings of parts and assemblies in SolidWorks.
- Works with mold/tool makers, and production department to deliver new products.
- Collaborates with manufacturing, production, marketing, and operations teams to launch new products.
- Oversees product line maintenance and implementation of engineering changes.
- Must be a self-starter, self-motivating and driven to produce results; a strong closer who can work independently and get things done with a collaborative mindset to work well with others. MUST have a can-do, positive attitude!
- Excellent organizational and planning skills; ability to handle multiple projects & tasks to completion.
- Strong work ethic and dedication to excellence, with creative problem-solving for mechanical design, required.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks with high comfort level for design in a 100% 3-D environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and for MS Office environment.
- Strong solid modeling skills required, and strong complex surfacing is a plus.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks software with a demonstrated ability to create intricate 2D and 3D designs and assemblies.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver products from concept to market.
- Demonstrated design experience with plastics and sheet metal fabrication processes, familiarity with casting process, a plus.
- Experience in automotive design and manufacturing methods, a plus.
