Form of workAs a Civil Engineering Intern for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in the Waste Management Practice at our Pittsburgh, PA office, you’ll support in-office and field activities primarily associated with Solid Waste landfill and transfer station facilities. In-office activities include engineering tasks such as tabulating laboratory and field test data, compilation of technical reports, stormwater management system design, and landfill gas collection system design. Field activities include Construction Quality Assurance (CQA) tasks such as monitoring and documenting landfill cell, cap, and gas collection system construction, and use of equipment for monitoring landfill emissions. You will interact and communicate with CEC office and field staff, clients, and contractors.
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering program
- Prior internship and/or related engineering and construction inspection experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate in person and via email
- Organizational skills required
- Ability to write daily reports
- Experience using Excel spreadsheets to prepare calculations and analyze data
- Willing and able to work in the field
- Valid driver’s license and transportation required
- Local candidates preferred
