The Role
The Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for aiding in the design, construction, testing, and commissioning of communication networks and meteorological installations at utility scale solar and storage installations.
Responsibilities
Work with engineers to develop project specific communication and instrumentation designs and documentation (CAD Drawings, Cable Schedules, etc.).
Assembly of instrumentation equipment based on design drawings.
Performance of preliminary testing.
Configuration and troubleshooting of instrumentation utilizing RS485 and Modbus communications.
Interaction with customer representatives to provide training and direction for installation and assembly of equipment.
Coordination of shipping and receiving of project equipment.
On-site commissioning of SCADA and Meteorological equipment.
On-site assembly of communication networks including Ethernet, Fiber Optic, and Serial devices.
Maintenance of site communication network (physical and software-based systems) during commissioning of installations.
Performance of data collection and preparation of reports to meet reporting requirements.
Documentation of all work and generation of reports as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or certification in industrial instrumentation or similar.
Working knowledge of layer 1 and layer 2 industrial networks.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial automation or instrumentation.
Experience with installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of met station instrumentation like pyranometers, anemometers, resistance temperature detectors, soiling systems, etc.
Excellent troubleshooting skills.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
