Arcfield in Rome, NY is seeking senior-level Software Engineers to join an Agile Scrum team developing systems deployed worldwide. Position responsibilities include:

  • Conducts research in design, development, testing and utilization of electronic data processing software.
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Determines computer user needs; analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls; prepares operating instructions; designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
  • Ensures software standards are met.
  • Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Confers with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design system and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
  • Coordinates software system installations and monitors equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met.

Responsibilities

What you’ll do…

  • Participate daily in an Agile Scrum development team environment and attend/contribute to Agile Scrum ceremonies.
  • Design and develop system capabilities for the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system using technologies, frameworks, and approaches such as security enhancements, containers, and cloud technologies.
  • Analyze commercial and government data specifications.
  • Develop primarily in Java, C, and C++.
  • Integrate third party applications and capabilities.
  • Use Gitlab and other Agile development tools.
  • Interface with testers, fielding engineers, and customers.

 

You’d be a great fit if you… 

  • Have a science/math/engineering BS degree with 10-12 years of experience, MS degree with 8-10 years of experience, or PhD 5-7 years of experience. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance 
  • Function well in a team environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiencies in Java, C, C++, shell scripting, XML, Gitlab, VMWare, Eclipse, Linux.
  • Are familiar with the full Software Engineering lifecycle.
  • Understand good coding principles and practices.
  • Have container-based development experience using Kubernetes, Gitlab CI, or equivalent.
  • Have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Possess strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and are quality oriented.

 

It’d be even better if you have… 

  • Knowledge of Agile development processes.
  • Design and implementation knowledge/experience using object-oriented principles and patterns.
  • Experience with relevant Software Engineering tools (configuration management systems, build processes, debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers).
  • Exposure to Security Enhanced Red Hat Linux
  • Working knowledge of secure coding practices and processes
  • An understanding or working knowledge of test-driven development.
  • An understanding of public-key cryptography.

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. In addition, Arcfield invests in its employees beyond just compensation. Max: $257,226.22
