As a Software Engineer within the Tesla Bot team, you will have the opportunity to apply your technical skills to a variety of system components & foundational code, focusing on object manipulation with humanoid robots. You will contribute at all levels of the software stack, from high-level architecture to low-level optimization, and from perception to motion generation. You will maximize code stability and safety, implementing tests and benchmarking tools to monitor performance on a fleet of robots. Most importantly, you will see your work repeatedly shipped to and utilized by thousands of Humanoid Robots in real world applications.
What You’ll Do- Write, debug, and maintain robust C++ software for the humanoid robot. Depending on needs, you may contribute to diverse projects ranging from neural network integration, architectural refactors, and motion planning optimization
- Develop and test Robotic Manipulation capabilities including (re)grasping, pick-and-place, and dexterous behaviors
- Advocate for coding practices that maximize maintainability and stability, building tools to measure performance and detect regressions, including simulations of robot behaviors
- Identify development bottlenecks and implement solutions to accelerate the team
- Optimize hardware resource usage, leveraging custom hardware components
- Ship production-quality, safety-critical software to the entirety of the Tesla Bot fleet
- Production-quality, modern C++ experience (C++14/17/20)
- Experience with software architectures for robotics and/or machine learning, preferably involving real-world robotics applications
- Experience developing software within a large shared codebase, following best practices for coding style
- Ability to rapidly prototype and rigorously test code changes, including safety-critical code
- Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills
- Background in Computer Science/Engineering, Robotics, Physics, similar field(s) of study, or equivalent practical knowledge
