The Games Partner Engineering team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to improve the game developer experience.

The Games Partner Engineering team is responsible for partnering closely with our game studio development partners who work to integrate functionality built within Netflix to enable awesome games to be available to millions of members around the world. We also partner closely with teams within Netflix to help shape their work to best meet the needs of our game studio partners. As such, Games Partner Engineers wear many different hats, have a tremendous impact on the development of games, and get to solve a broad range of challenges. 

As we grow and scale our gaming initiative, the Games Partner Engineering team will be a critical player in the future success of Games at Netflix. The Games Partner Engineering team is at the nexus of all the excitement - and is currently refining our approach so we can continue to meet our vision for making game development at Netflix a joyful experience. Who You Are
    • You have professional experience building games, ideally as a server, tools or backend engineering a Live Service game
    • You're curious and enjoy learning, leveling up your team along the way.
    • You are a generalist who enjoys being cross-functional, having some background in a few tech stacks will be a bonus here.  
    • You are adept at influencing without authority, comfortable with being a canary and collaborative with your approach to partnering with a wide variety of people.
    • You are self-directed and proactively look for solutions to bridge the needs of the business with technology.
    • You are an open and proactive communicator who shares context, ideas, and feedback while educating others to become more self-sufficient. 
    • You are comfortable with some degree of uncertainty and ambiguity. 
What you will do
    • You'll be among the first developers, integrating work as our game development partners will, new work developed by Games Experience Engineering and across Netflix, developing upgrade strategies, documentation and raising concerns before release.
    • You'll build sample games, reference apps and code snippets to test theories and push the boundaries of what's possible before our development partners do. 
    • You'll spend time with our game development partners working to solve difficult problems across many platforms and game engines, with game studios across the world.
    • You'll influence the work prioritized by Netflix to ensure optimal development experience.
    • You'll work closely with teams within Netflix, getting a deeper understanding of how our functionality is built to help level up our game development experience.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $700,000. 

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
