Job Description
Space Ground System Solutions, a Parsons company, has an immediate full-time opening for a Software Engineer in Alexandria, VA. The position will be responsible for software integration and development of the Virtual Mission Operations Center (VMOC) software. VMOC is a program under contract with the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, DC, that focuses on mission critical research for National Security. This position requires a motivated individual who seeks to work in a team environment where creative solutions are encouraged, and technical challenges are the norm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform analysis of requirements and software documentation
- Complete research on new technologies or methodologies for the purpose of implementing complex workflows
- Develop and document improvements to the VMOC software system
- Communicate effectively with customers, management, and other developers to aid and provide guidance in designing new features as well as determining defect fixes
- Ability to work in an Agile environment
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be a US citizen
- BS in relevant field (Computer Science, Software Engineer, Information Technology) and/or relevant experience
- Minimum of 3 years' overall professional experience
- Experience in Linux (Redhat preferred)
- Experience in Object Oriented Development (Java EE)
- Experience with relational databases (PostGreSQL)
- Experience with development of software application program interfaces (APIs)
- Experience with cloud software and containerized development
- Understanding of microservice applications
- Experience defining and deploying Kubernetes primitives (pods, services, deployments)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Problem solving capabilities to diagnose and troubleshoot problems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with Spring/Springboot application development
- Experience with Java EE application development
- Use of Atlassian Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Gitlab)
- Web security technologies and best practices.
- GUI/UI/UX development experience
