Axient is seeking a Software Engineer to support our customer in Cape Canaveral, FL.
Must have a Secret clearance for this role.
We assist the Space Force by supporting a multitude of areas, including Systems Engineering & Integration, Acquisition & Program Management Support, Mission Integration Management, System Safety & Environmental Engineering, Systems Security & Information Assurance, Launch Schedule and Risk Management, Certification of New Entrant Launch Vehicles. Axient is actively seeking a motivated, customer-oriented Software Engineer to join our team in the Cape Canaveral, FL area.
Responsibilities- This is considered an advanced level engineering position.
- Responsibilities include conceptual thinking, designing and developing plans, processes, procedures, functional and data requirements analysis, complex system analysis, and documentation preparation for complex systems.
- Specialized in areas of all software development life cycle phases including: requirements gathering and analysis; designing solutions and databases; developing, testing, and implementing products; training users, demonstrating products; performing maintenance and responding to service requests for supported software, writing/testing/implementing Jira/Confluence scripts.
- Effectively communicate with multiple DoD and LSP organizations to gather data and status.
- Develop, track, maintain, and communicate technical progress and schedule of missions.
- Provide and present weekly technical status reports. Develop products for and support flight worthiness review and approval.
- Support Launch Service Provider design and mission reviews, launch site rehearsals, and day-of-launch activities.
- May be required to supervise less experienced engineers.
- 5-10 years experience as a Software Engineer, programmer, software developer, or other related areas
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or STEM field
- Current DoD Secret clearance
- Experience administering web services using Apache/Tomcat/Oracle
- Fluent in AWS Cloud Environment
- Experience with high availability and scalability in AWS
- Fluent in both Windows and Linux (RedHat/CentOS/Amazon) administration & shell scripting (BASH, C#)
- Comfortable with one of the programming/scripting languages: Python, Ruby
- Hands on experience with Jira and Confluence
- Production experience developing, configuring and supporting monitoring systems, alerting and analytics (e.g., Sumo Logic, OpManager, AppD etc)
- Proficient in creating technical documentation & architectural diagrams
- Demonstrated competency in Microsoft tools including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, and Information Technology (IT) systems and SharePoint-type databases.
- Experience working with senior level DoD leadership in a Program Office environment.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve quality issues effectively.
- Initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, successful collaboration with multiple agencies and personnel, excellent oral and written communication skills.
