Summary:
We are seeking a Software Engineer to be part of the team as we continue to create and maintain news sites and advanced features on our in-house built WordPress platform. This person will be intellectually curious and eager to learn and work with the development teams to support product & development initiatives. The primary responsibility of this position is to work on the company’s WordPress platform and related technologies.
This role is expected to regularly collaborate with other Software Engineers, engineering leadership and product management during definition and prioritization by brainstorming and envisioning the solution and providing a job size for prioritization, and works with project management throughout the agile delivery lifecycle.
What you will do:
Work closely with senior engineers and team leadership to handle development tasks on the WordPress platform
Work on additional peripheral projects related to the WordPress platform
Update documentation as needed
Be ready, willing, and able to think through complex problems, help fix them, think outside the box and ask questions
Resolve site issues and oversee testing associated with maintenance and measuring success metrics
Carry out other duties as may be assigned or requested
What you will bring:
WordPress, PHP, MySQL, REST APIs, GraphQL, JavaScript, CSS / SASS
Familiarity with version control systems like git
Object-oriented programming concepts
Software design patterns
Experience working with multiple WordPress sites and large WordPress sites, WordPress VIP/VIP Go platform are pluses
Experience working in an Agile environment is helpful, but not required
BS in Computer Science/Engineering, completion of an intense Software Engineering curriculum (bootcamp) or 2+ years of relevant software development experience
Media industry a plus
The annual salary range is $100,000-$120,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
