What are we looking for?
SoftPro is looking for an innovative Software Development Managerto work a hybrid (office/home) schedule out of either the Raleigh, NC, or Jacksonville, FL offices. This person will lead an application development team responsible for developing a new application complementing the industry-leading SoftPro Select platform which automates every phase of the closing, title, and escrow process. They will create new capabilities integrating with and expanding our flagship title and settlement software platform.
What will I do as a Software Development Manager at SoftPro?
The primary responsibility of the Software Development Manager is to build and maintain high-performing Software Development teams including hiring, facilitating training, onboarding, and providing leadership through the entire SDLC. They will collaborate closely with the product owners, scrum masters, architects, and managers of integrating solutions to ensure the teams are meeting their delivery commitments.
Additionally, you will:
  • Lead both local and remote teams, including teams based offshore.
  • Own and champion the development process: SDLC, coding standards, code-reviews, check-ins, builds, security scanning, and testing
  • Build and maintain high-performing Software Development teams including hiring, training, and onboarding
  • Identify opportunities to eliminate non-value-added activities to enable our developers to do what they love best – developing! No pointless meetings and no unnecessary interruptions.
  • Identify growth opportunities for team members to continue to learn and develop in a supportive environment
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and motivation to the engineering teams to sustain high levels of productivity and morale
  • Collaborate with Product Management and the Scrum Master on producing a quality product, on time and within budget
  • Champion and advocate for the engineering teams to the rest of the organization
  • Create a positive culture of fairness, quality, and accountability while challenging the status quo and bringing new ideas to light

What skills do I need to be a successful Software Development Manager at SoftPro?
  • 5+ years of Software Development experience, preferably with the Microsoft technology stack (.NET Framework, C#, SQL Server)
  • 3+ years of development leadership experience
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and people management skills
  • Ability to identify and implement metrics that drive software quality and team productivity
  • Experience with agile development processes
  • Ability to work closely with Product Management to evaluate business and technical requirements and ensure product delivery with high quality and fidelity
  • Proven track record of driving quality across teams, with a commitment to automated testing
  • Solid customer communication and service orientation
