As a Software Developer I, you will learn from the ground up and grow with the department. The first several months of this role will be spent shadowing the senior developers and taking on some of the more basic tasks. As your experience and comfort level grows, you will gradually take on more responsibilities and get more hands on within each project. We don’t require an extensive background, but some skills that will lead to your success are: the desire and ability to learn, not being afraid to ask questions, strong attention to detail, excellent ability to troubleshoot and problem solving. Key Responsibilities:
Analytical Functions:
- Research and document computer users’ requirements until you reach a thorough understanding of the business processes and constraints.
- Prepare and present possible solutions to problems or enhancements.
- Translate system requirements for a new or modified computer system, application or network into a set of program specifications.
- Coordinate the implementation of solutions with the assistance of the development staff.
Programming Functions:
- Translate program specifications into efficient, reliable code.
- Debug and test computer programs.
- Research, buy, test and install development software or systems that interact with our software.
- Modify software to correct errors or to enhance a program’s capabilities.
- Prepare or modify support documentation for other programmers, users of the system and associated support services personnel.
- Train individuals on the proper use or new features of the system.
- Troubleshoot and provide technical assistance. This is not limited to our software. It may include systems (hardware or software) that interact with our software.
- Develop and modify database systems to gather, organize, store and categorize information to maximize ease of data retrieval.
- Create and modify reports.
Supportive Functions:
- Create new user accounts and grant them the appropriate security.
- Remove user accounts and revoke their security.
- Deploy new run time files and send out notifications of their existence.
- Travel to other branch locations for projects and professional development. Such travel may involve overnight stays of one or more nights.
- Work additional time as necessary during peak periods, special situations, or projects.
- May be included in an on-call rotation during non-working time.
Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Proficient in graphical programming (C# or PowerBuilder preferred).
- Proficient in SQL and Relational Database Methodology (Oracle or SQLServer preferred).
- Exposure to Salesforce preferred
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to work well both independently and with a team.
- Desire and ability to learn.
- Strong attention to detail.
Qualifications:
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen, this includes THC.
License(s)/Certification(s) Required:
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Record in compliance with Paulo’s Vehicle Use Policy.
