Our people find purpose and do what they love in an inclusive, collaborative, agile, and rewarding environment.About this positionWe are looking to hire a seasoned technical specialist in Software and Solution Architecture as a Senior Consultant in Software and Solution Architecture. You will help us collaborate with the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) on Project FuSSE, which aims to design and construct a fully scalable settlement engine.

This collaboration is part of the BIS Innovation Hub's initiative to foster innovation and enhance the efficiency and safety of the financial system globally. The need for a specialist microservice development arises from the technical requirements of the project, ensuring optimal design, scalability, and efficiency.You will work in the Connectivity Markets and Finance Division (IFD/CMF) part of the Institutions for Development Department. This team is responsible for assists member countries to overcome the financing barriers that limit their productive development.

Areas of work include financial inclusion, financial and fiscal risk management, financial transparency, housing finance, public debt management, green and sustainable finance (thematic finance), among others.This is what you will do:* You will provide expertise in the development of Software and Solution Architectures as required for project development, collaborating with the BIS Innovation Hub team as well as with teams from additional project participants currently involved in the project* Develop technical designs, configurations and implementations of the assigned solution components deriving from Project FuSSE* Participate in regular and unplanned meetings with other project team members to evaluate requirements, constraints and issues where their expertise in Software and Solution Architecture is needed* Collaborate in regular reviews with the rest of the teams of project scope, requirements and technical documentation* Review and provide feedback on project milestones and commitments* Participate in regular project update stand-ups and meetings* Provide regular feedback on assigned task progress* Provide timely feedback or input on issues or developments that impact project scope, timelines, and commitments* Elaborate documentation related to your participation in the project, including but not limited to, technical documentation, progress reports, incident tracking, root cause analysis and issue resolution* Use of provided tools for version control, project asset tracking, and project collaborationDeliverables and Payments Timeline:1. Successful completion of their assigned responsibilities derived from the Project FuSSE design and implementation process2. Monthly progress reports and updates that will serve as evidence of work done3.

Intellectual property assets, in the form of:3.1. Architecture Design Documents: Detailed documents that describe the system's architecture, including components, their interactions, and other architectural decisions.3.2. System Blueprint: A visual representation of the system's architecture, often using diagrams like UML (Unified Modeling Language) or BPML (Business Process Modelling Language) to depict components, relationships, and data flow.3.3.

Technology Stack Decisions: Recommendations and justifications for specific technologies, tools, platforms, and frameworks to be used in the project.3.4. Non-functional Requirements Specification: Details about system performance, scalability, security, maintainability, and other non-functional aspects.3.5. Integration Strategy: Guidelines on how different system components or external systems will communicate and integrate with each other.3.6.

Security Architecture: Details about the security measures, protocols, and tools that will be implemented to protect the system and its data.3.7. Infrastructure Design: Specifications for the underlying infrastructure, including servers, networks, cloud configurations, and other hardware or infrastructure-as-a-service components.3.8. Data Architecture & Database Design: Descriptions of data models, database schemas, data flow diagrams, and strategies for data storage, retrieval, and migration.3.9.

Prototypes & Proof of Concepts (PoCs): If applicable, early versions of the system or its components to validate architectural decisions or to demonstrate feasibility.3.10. Scalability & Performance Strategy: Guidelines and strategies to ensure the system can handle growth and maintain performance under increased loads.3.11. Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Plan: Strategies and procedures to recover the system and its data in case of failures or disasters.3.12.

Deployment Strategy: Plans for how the software will be deployed, including considerations for different environments (development, staging, production).3.13. API Design & Documentation: If the system involves APIs, the architect might be involved in designing them and providing documentation.3.14. Governance & Best Practices: Guidelines on coding standards, design principles, and other best practices to ensure consistency and quality across the development team.3.15.

Review Reports: Feedback and reviews on design documents, code, and other deliverables from the development team to ensure alignment with architectural decisions.3.16. Stakeholder Communication: Regular updates, presentations, and documentation to keep stakeholders informed about architectural decisions and changes.3.17. Risk Assessment: Identification of potential risks related to architecture and recommendations for mitigation.3.18.

Training & Knowledge Transfer: Providing training sessions, workshops, or documentation to help the development team understand and implement the proposed architecture.3.19. Change Management: Documentation and procedures for handling changes to the architecture, especially in response to evolving requirements or challenges.3.20. Cost Estimation: An estimation of costs associated with infrastructure, tools, licenses, and other architectural components.Payment SchedulePayment shall be provided on a bimonthly basis against the delivery of the corresponding bimonthly progress reports.Deliverable #PercentagePlanned Date to Submit1.10%January 20242.10%March 20243.20%May 20244.20%June 20245.20%September 20246.20%November 2024What you'll need:* Education: Master's degree or equivalent experience in Information Systems, or Information Technology Management or Information Technology Engineer.* Experience: At least 6 years of experience in areas related to information technology, software, systems, and engineering.* Languages: Proficiency in oral and written advanced knowledge in Spanish and English.Key skills:* Constant desire to innovate and learn.* Ability to work autonomously and make proactive decisions.* Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team.* Adaptability and openness to new technologies and approaches.* Complex problem solving and analytical thinking.Requirements* Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries with residency or legal permit to work in Canada.* Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.Type of contract and duration:* Contract Type: External Products and Services Consultant, lump sum.* Duration: 12 months.What we offer:The IDB offers benefits that respond to the different needs and moments in the life of an employee.
