Job Description
JMA Solutions has an opportunity available for a full-time Software Engineer to support the FAA's Next Generation Transportation System (NextGen), National Airspace System (NAS) System Engineering and Integration Office (ANG-B), and NAS Enterprise Planning and Analysis Division (ANG-B2) to provide a broad range of Strategic Planning, Systems Engineering (SE), technical and programmatic support services that will enable the FAA to accomplish its National Airspace System (NAS), Mission Support and other aviation-related objectives.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Design, development, testing and deployment of computer software
- Provide feasibility analysis, problem definition, requirements development, and solution development
- Document and demonstrate solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments, and clear code
- Prepare and install solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards, and programming
- Improve operations by conducting systems analysis, Recommend changes in policies and procedures
- Develop software solutions by studying information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes by following the software development lifecycle
- Support analyses, evaluation, and integration of any proposed infrastructure or operations at the enterprise level.
- Develop and maintain NAS EA planning artifacts, including the EA roadmaps and the NAS segment implementation plan (NSIP) and any other artifacts that describe the future or evolution of the NAS.
- Support any roadmap activities required that depict activities for infrastructure and service delivery to improve NAS operations.
- Development of the Service/Business layers through the integration of the Business Technology Information (BTI) into the NSIP
- Development and maintenance of the required NSIP interfaces and business rules into the Integrated System Engineering Framework (ISEF)
- Perform planning and impact analysis to identify strategic, programmatic, and technical impacts as a result of baseline schedule deviations.
- Assist with defining requirements for the NAS Systems engineering portal and planning environment.
- Engage and collaborate across ANG, and NAS acquisition program management offices to collect and integrate NAS lifecycle cost estimates.
- Assist with overall roadmap development, approvals, and sustainment to help ensure the progression and evolution of the NAS planning and analysis efforts.
- Provide engineering analysis and recommendations to ensure technical integration and integrity are consistent with NextGen plans.
Qualifications :
- Knowledge of FAA's Acquisition Management System processes and products desirable
- Knowledge of FAA NAS Enterprise Architecture
- Experience in integrating new systems into the National Airspace System (NAS)
- Demonstrated technical leadership in FAA's NAS modernization programs
- Performance modeling, analysis, and determination
- Knowledge of Configuration management, alternative identification and analysis
- Systems architectures in support of the overall Enterprise Architecture
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Information Systems or related field and a minimum of 20 years of work experience.
