Contract: 9 Month/144 days Salary Range $51,000 - $57,000
Additional Summer pay based upon daily rate; eligible for PD pay

Summary of Function
- Provide comprehensive school social work services to parents, students and school staff, addressing barriers that limit a student from receiving full benefit from their educational experience.
- Respond to referrals from school administration, parents, teachers, and others by providing direct services and by assisting families in accessing appropriate community resources.
Qualifications
Qualifications include:
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Masters of Social Work (MSW) or a related field from an accredited school of social work with a minimum of 60 graduate semester hours required

Knowledge and skills for direct and indirect intervention including:
- Counseling on an individual, group, or family basis;
- Consulting with administrators, teachers, parents, and other professionals about student problems and appropriate change strategies;
- Networking with school programs and community agencies to provide essential services for families and children;
- Understanding of the knowledge, skills, and processes for effective casework practice;
- Understanding of the school social work profession including associated laws ethical issues, professional issues and standards;
- Understanding of child development, psychopathology, social and environmental conditioning, cultural diversity and family systems.
Duties and responsibilities
These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
1. Follow up with students returning to campus after hospitalization for behavioral health reasons, juvenile detention and substance abuse rehabilitation centers.
2, Follow up with students referred to counseling office for mental health concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, suicidal gestures, etc.
3. Mobilize parents' and family, school, and community resources to enable students to learn as effectively as possible in his or her educational program.
4. Assist with conflict resolution and anger management lessons with students.
5. Assess environmental factors that impact individuals and groups and remove identified barriers.
6. Develop and implement professional development training for educational staff and parents, as requested.
7. Providing services with cultural sensitivity for all diverse and vulnerable populations (i.e. those living in poverty, experiencing trauma, living with a disability, experiencing homeless or criminal justice involvement, refugee and migrant populations).
8. Provide individual and/or group counseling in response to school-wide needs and crises.
9. Participate in professional development activities aimed at current trends and best practices for the provision of comprehensive school social work services.
10. Maintain an ongoing liaison with community agencies and other resources to meet student needs; refer parents and student to agencies when appropriate.
11. Advocate for new and improved community/school service to meet the needs of students and families.
12, Conduct risk assessments and provide crisis prevention and intervention to both individual and large-scale events.
14. Perform related work as required.

Indoor office environment.
Physical requirements
Work involves the performance of duties where physical exertion and movement is required to perform the aspects of the job. Assistance is available as required to perform physically demanding tasks. Work involves sitting and moving for extended periods of time, requires moving from one location to another, reaching, bending, holding and grasping objects. Verbal communication ability required.
Equipment, Aids, Tools and Materials
Uses office equipment which includes but is not limited to: computers, video projectors, white boards, and office or instructional equipment. GCUSD recognizes that ever changing development of technology but expects all staff to keep abreast of changing technology opportunities and use tools and devices provided to them.
