We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to fill the dual role of Dean of Students and Social Studies Teacher at our alternative high school serving grades 9-12. This unique position requires a balance of instructional expertise and strong interpersonal skills to effectively manage classroom teaching and student discipline.
Teaching Responsibilities:
- Teach Social Studies subjects for four periods a day in a hybrid classroom setting.
- Utilize a learning management software (LMS) and provide teacher-led instruction.
- Develop lesson plans based on the LMS curriculum and supplement with additional instructional materials.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of Students.
- Perform interventions and provide one-on-one support to students as needed.
- Foster an engaging learning environment that promotes student success.
Dean of Students Responsibilities:
- Build strong, positive relationships with students to enhance their school experience and support retention and success.
- Serve as the primary responder to disciplinary issues, addressing incidents promptly and effectively.
- Monitor common areas and classrooms during non-teaching periods, maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.
- Collaborate closely with the principal on all student-related issues and disciplinary actions.
- Implement and enforce school policies and procedures consistently
- Assist with student recruitment events and activities.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certificate in Social Studies.
- Administrative certificate preferred.
- Proven ability to create positive relationships with students and staff.
- Strong classroom management and disciplinary skills.
- Experience with hybrid teaching and familiarity with learning management systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the school administration and staff.
