Job description

As a fully integrated member of the Marketing and Brand Management team, the Social Media Marketing Specialist develops and coordinates the production of progressive, engaging content for Social Media channels targeting prospective undergraduate and graduate students. The incumbent works closely with the university's brand and digital solutions teams to ensure the university is optimally positioned to enrollment audiences. The incumbent devises and manages engagement strategies, connecting with followers while exercising broad discretion and judgment in responding on the university's behalf, positioning the institution to preserve and elevate its reputation.
Candidate is expected to be up-to-date with the latest digital technologies and Social Media trends, have excellent communication skills, and ability to translate Loyola Marymount University and Enrollment Management's brand voice creatively.
Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Support and execute comprehensive digital communications and enrollment marketing plans, projects, and campaigns that increase engagement with prospective undergraduate and graduate target audiences, promote goodwill, align with the university's mission and goals, advance the university's strategic priorities, articulate the university's brand strategy, and enhance its visibility and exposure in social channels.
  • Create original text, photo, and video content targeting prospective students. Manage posts across enrollment Social Media accounts, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube, Vimeo, Linktree and more.
  • Create and contribute to social and web-based digital strategies to engage with admitted and committed students, including social campaigns; admitted student web portals; and admitted student digital communities.
  • Engage freelance writers, video production professionals, and student interns hired to produce long-term projects as needed.
  • Communicate with followers, respond to questions and comments in a timely manner, and monitor tags and comments.
  • Collaborate with university Social Media colleagues on social listening efforts; identify and track trending topics of potential relevance, monitor enrollment Social Media channels to ensure the university is positioned optimally.
  • Support a data-driven and evidenced-based decision environment. Collect, review, analyze, and evaluate data metrics and analytics to inform strategy and measure performance. Set goals and objectives with the Director of Marketing and Communications, Enrollment Management, report on performance, and adjust campaigns to optimize audience engagement.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends, develop professional contacts with colleagues, attend professional development engagements, and deliver presentations to inform, educate, and inspire Social Media Marketing and communications approach.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications
  • Typically a Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or business management preferred or equivalent experience. Incumbent is expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities needed to stay abreast of best practices and industry trends.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in progressively responsible positions in marketing, communications or advertising. Higher education and Social Media-focused role preferred. Ability to work effectively and independently with internal and external constituencies and with professionals of varied disciplines to accomplish tasks and projects.
    • Demonstrated experience managing and executing brand content strategy across multiple digital communications and marketing channels and media; highly developed skills in communications writing and editing.
  • Highly collaborative style with experience developing and implementing communications strategies successfully; background that demonstrates relationship-building, consensus-building, flexibility, and managing through influencing.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently and entrepreneurially; experience creating, developing and implementing new initiatives.
  • Demonstrated computer competency with common and specialized production software suites, such as photo editing software (Adobe Photoshop, etc.), video production software, Social Media monitoring and tracking suites (Hootsuite, Buffer, Sprout Social, Brandwatch, etc.), SEO, and analytics reporting software.
  • Demonstrated expert-level knowledge of native Social Media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, LinkedIn and YouTube, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of paid Social Media advertising strategies and techniques across various Social Media platforms.
  • Ability to produce high quality deliverables with meticulous attention to detail. Must be metrics-driven and results-oriented with demonstrated analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide quick turnaround and updates for multiple requests while maintaining a strong reputation of high-quality work.
  • Effective project planning and project management skills are required along with the ability to multitask.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, as is the ability to listen with the skill to gather critical, accurate information.
    • Experience working in and/or with large-scale organizations which utilize processes to review and approve ideas and enterprise solutions to deliver services.
    • Ability to brainstorm, synthesize multiple concepts and think strategically and creatively.
    • Ability to work effectively, independently and collaboratively with different constituencies and with creative, communications and technical professionals to accomplish group tasks and projects is required.
  • Must be able to perform successfully in a fast-paced, intellectually intense, and service-oriented environment. Willing and able to adjust to changing demands and shifting priorities.
