About the Position

Heat Dance is currently seeking a passionate and customer-centric storyteller to be our Social Media Marketing intern and join our marketing team who is self-motivated and has a passion for entertainment, music/dance, and deep online social conversations. Our ideal candidate is someone who has experience gaining a large number of online followers and creating consistently branded, high-quality Social Media content. The ideal candidate is skilled in Photoshop, InDesign, and a variety of mobile photo editing apps, and is thoughtfully customer focused when interacting with online communities and building relationships.

Our intern will work under the Marketing Director to manage the Heat Dance Social Media accounts and be our resident Social Media expert. They will consistently post high-quality material (including videos & photos from our production team, as well as self-generated graphics, behind-the-scenes shoots, and other new ideas). You’ll use data and research to provide insights and recommendations to the broader marketing team. Hashtags, comments, replies, and stories should be second nature for our intern—building an online presence for Heat is key, and interacting with our fans, clients, and other industry professionals on a regular basis is our first impression for many guests!

Half of our Social Media team works remotely, and half works in-person in North Hollywood, CA. Be sure to indicate on your application which you are applying for – content creation occurs more in-person, while engagement and research occurs more remotely. All interns will meet virtually for meetings on Tuesday and Thursday.

Important Details

Location: This Social Media position can be accomplished remotely and purely through virtual meetings and homework. If you are local to LA we can meet in-person at our home offices in the neighborhood of Valley Village of Los Angeles, CA.

Dates: 2024 Winter/Spring Session: January 9 – May 24

2024 Summer Session: June 4 – August 30

2024 Fall Session: Sept 3 – December 20

Hours: We meet virtually for 1-2 hours on Tuesdays. Depending on the projects in progress, additional meetings may be added according to your schedule requirements.

School Credit: If school credit is possible, will work with candidate to achieve credit requirements.

Future: Can lead to increased responsibilities and involvement over time, with the potential to expand into the PR, digital marketing, or design areas based on the intern’s proven skills and dedication.

Responsibilities:

• Manage Heat Dance Social Media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube
• Be the core owner of our presence on Social Media and the point person to triage any real-time issues and propose solutions
• Own our Social Media scheduling and analytics tool (Planoly) and evaluate performance
• Develop and manage a Social Media strategy and core programs
• Ensure that our Social Media profiles are up to date and align with our current branding and messaging
• Maintain a dashboard of core metrics, and consistently report to key stakeholders
• Develop partnerships and integrate with processes among PR, campaigns, paid social, Product Marketing, Community, Employer Brand, and other teams to create social campaigns and content that serve their business needs
• Create Instagram stories with a combination of simple text, still photos, videos, and montages
• Work with production crew and marketing director to post compelling, unique, and inspiring content
• Craft, edit, and publish content consistently and regularly across our core and most impactful social channels to drive reach and quality followers, and amplify key content, news, and stories from Asana
• Follow our guests, industry influencers & professionals, and other fitness startups; interact with them in comments, stories, cross-promotional agreements, tags, etc.
• Brainstorm on the regular: work with marketing to brainstorm and assist with content, campaigns, and marketing
• Monitor trends in Social Media, entertainment, dance, and applications and appropriately apply that knowledge to create viral content that will increase word of mouth

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
