Position: Soccer Coach (Part Time, Contract)
Part-Time, Seasonal from April-June 15th
Coaches typically work 2-3 days per week, a total of approximately 20-22 days per season.

Position Summary
The Soccer Coach working in conjunction with the Site Director will be responsible for planning and conducting soccer practices and games for youth. The Soccer Coach will provide quality instruction, planning and conducting soccer practices, and games for a team of 15-20 elementary or middle school student-athletes, during the after-school hours. The coach will also ensure that students are receiving the best quality in areas of staff performance and the delivery of programs and in compliance with all requirements. The Soccer Coach will conduct all duties in accordance with the mission, values, and policies of America SCORES New York.
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide quality instruction of the fundamentals of soccer with an emphasis on teamwork, collaboration, and individual skills.
- Record and maintain student attendance records for every practice and game.
- Complete incident reports and submit reports to the Program Coordinator the same day
- Engage the youth in skill and age-appropriate activities while providing leadership for conflict resolution as needed
- Provide feedback on players’ performance and create a positive learning environment for all players
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all players
- Complete SCORES Professional Development Program requirements, including training courses and workshops.
- Distribute, collect, maintain, and return SCORES-issued equipment and supplies.
- Participate and ensure the participant and coach completion of all program evaluations
- Complete the mandatory DOE fingerprinting check before you begin work with the
SCORES program.
- Communicate regularly with other coaches to ensure that students are fully participating in all aspects of the program.
- Develop relationships with principal, teachers, students and parents from your school.
- Respond to phone and e-mail communication from SCORES office within 24 hours.
- Ensure that all protocols and procedures are followed, including trips and the preparation of trip approval documents
- Build collaboration between key stakeholders, especially on-site staff, organizational partners, and principals, to support the institutionalization of America SCORES model
- Attend all SCORES special events, including the season-ending culminating event.
- Ability to instruct youth with a diversity and inclusion lens while aligning instruction with National Social Justice standards
Skills/Knowledge Required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred or 60 credits towards a degree from an accredited college or university preferably in the areas of sports management, physical education, kinesiology, education, sociology, psychology
- Demonstrated skills and competency in youth development.
- Experience coaching or playing soccer in the High School or Collegiate Level
- Demonstrated skills in sports, academics, program planning, program implementation, and program evaluation.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of working in DOE based programs
- Ability to develop community partnerships and foster existing relationships with community residents, community-based organizations, and government entities.
Pay Rate: $1100-$1,700 per season (Contract, Stipend)
