The Small Business Consultant is responsible for the delivery and coordination of WWBIC’s business assistance programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Assess client needs and provide direct business advice and guidance via one-on-one consultation or small group counseling to WWBIC clients, including new and existing loan clients. Monitor each client’s progress and document outcomes. Effectively communicate client needs and observations with other team members, working in tandem to develop action plans needed to assist clients. Connect like clients to facilitate networking opportunities. Conduct business site visits. Promote and increase awareness of client businesses.
- Perform comprehensive review of business plan including marketing plan and financial goals. Provide comprehensive and ongoing review of financial statements and projections to determine if client is on track. Develop action plans to achieve goals and monitor client progress. Assist client in creating cash flow projections and assist in financial analysis to provide guidance and options in making purchase decisions.
- Establish and maintain regular mass communication systems with clients including, but not limited to email, Constant Contact, WWBIC Website, Webinars, and other electronic communication vehicles.
- Effectively carry out the Small Business Technical Assistance team’s activities to ensure that WWBIC’s statewide one-on-one assistance is coordinated and delivered in a well-planned, timely and quality fashion. In conjunction with Client Programs and Services and Lending Group members, provide input into planning the work of the Small Business Technical Assistance team to accomplish the larger team goals including deliverables for each market.
- Collect, track, and enter client data in a timely fashion as required by funders to ensure WWBIC meets it annual goals and outcomes. Maintain client data records in WWBIC’s database related to client services/hours provided. Monitor and assist in the fulfillment of related contracts. Provide outcome reports as requested. Collect necessary compliance forms for deliverables. Track counseling hours; input them regularly into Outcome Tracker Database.
- Train clients on collection of Employment Information Forms (EIF) and collect EIF from portfolio clients bi-annually.
- Assist in overall mission of WWBIC by working in a team environment to effectively complete other duties as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Represent and/or speak as a representative of WWBIC at community and/or professional functions, expos, collaborations, conferences, and meetings.
- Provide recommendations on loan restructuring.
- Facilitate WWBIC business courses and workshops as determined in conjunction with Vice President Client Programs and Services based upon workload and/or other project commitments.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- Minimum three to five years solid work experience required; prefer experience in Small Business planning, business plan development and review and/or business counseling
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must possess professionalism, ability to multi-task and effectively meet deadlines
- The ability to work collaboratively with diverse Small Business owners is preferred
- Having been a Small Business owner previously is preferred
- Available to work occasional evening and weekend hours
- Valid driver’s license and proof of liability and property damage insurance on vehicle used is required
