About us:
As a Fortune 50 company with more than 400,000 team members worldwide, Target is an iconic brand and one of America's leading retailers.
Working at Target means the opportunity to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. Caring for our communities is woven into who we are, and we invest in the places we collectively live, work and play. We prioritize relationships, fuel and develop talent by creating growth opportunities, and succeed as one Target team. At our core, our purpose is ingrained in who we are, what we value, and how we work. It's how we care, grow, and win together.
Target's Food and Beverage Supply Chain is evolving at an incredible pace. We are constantly reimagining how we get the right product to the right guest even better, faster and more cost effectively than before. We are becoming more intelligent, automated and algorithmic in our decision-making, so that no matter how guests shop-in stores or on Target.com-we deliver the convenience and immediate gratification they demand and deserve. We are on a mission to win decisively over any competitor, with a seamless and superior guest service experience unlike any they can offer. Our teams work with the agility our mission requires, and we constantly come together to implement new processes in record time.
A role on the Capacity Management Team within the Food Supply Chain means being relentlessly focused on how we can drive Product Availability to our stores and guests by increasing throughput and storage capacity across our network. Our teams work with the agility our mission requires, and we constantly come together to implement and iterate new processes in record time. We're looking for exceptional people who are proactive, creative, independent, innovative, risk-savvy and comfortable working in varying degrees of ambiguity. You will work cross-functionally with experts from across Food and Beverage to support co-creation of solutions to reduce costs, increase storage capacity, improve speed and quality for replenishment activities, as well as balance our current and future Food Supply Chain network demand. You will help scope a broad set of initiatives and ideas to help identify the storage capacity problem, potential impact, and the resources needed to solve; you'll also be actively engaged in developing solutions alongside experts from across the organization including Field Operations and Inventory Management.
As a Slotting Technician in Food Supply Chain, you will be responsible for using and contributing to creating the computer-based tools that will showcase current and future storage capacity constraints. You will also be leveraging those tools to manage the slotting of items and utilize power equipment to move the items within one of our Food Supply Chain Facility and supporting the broader Food Supply Chain network as needed. The position will work across departments to gather data, identify opportunities, and contribute to create sustainable routines to prioritize and implement solutions. This role will provide an ideal opportunity to work within a highly collaborative, cross-functional team. You will support communication and alignment across Food Supply Chain and stores on high profile initiatives to enable progress toward our goals. You will coordinate as a Slotting Technician to align deliverables, resources, and timelines. More specifically, you will:

  • Manage and iterate the tools used for storage capacity constraints in a single Food Supply Chain Facility and share information obtained to assist with network slotting initiatives.
  • Leverage existing tenets to determine the "optimal" slotting position for all items in a Food Supply Chain Facility by chamber based on inputs such as item velocity, racking/location dimensions, automation capabilities, supporting efficient use of inventory capital, site transportation and operating expense, and store labor expense.
  • Operate power equipment to move items to optimal storage location in the supply chain facility.
  • Partner with Capacity Management and Operations leadership on adherence/governance to what the Slotting Models indicate as well as improving the models when opportunities are identified.
  • Brainstorm, prioritize, and execute projects to increase storage capacity and slotting efficiencies.
  • Learn Target's Warehouse Management System (WMS) to understand daily operations and support system troubleshooting.

Core responsibilities of the job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.
About You:
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years work experience as a warehouse worker, operations technician, quality control technician, or similar warehouse operator.
  • Work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Able to lift and carry merchandise weighing 35-45 lbs. frequently throughout a shift and up to 60 lbs. occasionally.
  • Able to be trained on and operate all powered equipment safely (including but not limited to Pallet Rider, Scissor Lift, Sit Down & Standup Forklift), and work at heights of up to 40ft where applicable.
  • Work at a height of up to 40 ft on a mezzanine (where applicable).
  • Able to work in various temperature-controlled environments including refrigerator and freezer for majority of shift.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and synthesize data and present it in an efficient and actionable way.
  • Ability to learn and navigate numerous, unique systems independently and with minimal direction after receiving training; proficiency with MS Office Package.
  • Ability to accurately read, utilize matching skills and comprehend department/product documentation.
  • Ability to research defects/issues and identify root causes driving those defects.
