Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. or "SIA", located in Lafayette, Indiana, is the only Subaru vehicle manufacturing facility outside of Japan. SIA is a 4.4 million square foot automotive OEM - meaning our manufacturing process begins with coils of steel and ends with the high-quality vehicles you see out on the roads. We employ 6500+ Associates, both production and administrative, all under one roof. SIA is the safest automotive manufacturing plant in the United States and is also a staple in the community due to its numerous fundraising activities held onsite, donations to local charities and plentiful volunteer opportunities. SIA is a frontrunner in environmental conservation being the first Zero-Landfill automotive manufacturing plant and the first to have its campus designated a backyard wildlife habitat. SIA has grown tremendously since its 1989 beginnings and continues to be an example of success within the automotive industry.
Outline of Duties:
The SLC Supply Chain Material Analyst coordinates the CKD, SAP, and N/A Cross Dock movement of materials through the Supply Chain by identifying underperforming areas, through cost, capacity, and demand patterns analysis. Continuously reviews and assesses inventory levels based on demand forecasting, historical data, and supplier capabilities to identify sources of problems to develop suggestions for solutions. Identifies performance deficiencies, compliance concerns, and formulate actionable solutions with the supply base to maintain positive results. Designs and organizes reports to provide relative data to all stakeholders and may assist in the negotiation of contract arrangements. This position has a direct impact on production results and overall financial strength to both Subaru and its supplier base and a strong influence on the overall cost per unit.
The essential functions described below are intended to broadly define the expectations of the role.
  1. Assess Supply Chain strengths and opportunities through complex data analysis and develops insights optimizing Supply Chain capabilities.
  2. Analyze supply impacts to future production, develops countermeasures and communicates the concerns, decisions, and results of the decision(s) to the appropriate stakeholders.
  3. Identify demand pattern gaps and adjust ordering parameters to achieve positive results.
  4. Maintain and develop supplier standards that enhance the capabilities and production/financial results for both SIA and the supply base.
  5. Observe supplier's performance based off SIA standards for discrepancies and improvement opportunities that can directly impact production / financial results.
  6. Develop actionable improvement plans and follow up directly with suppliers through onsite auditing to ensure a positive outcome for both SIA and the supply base.
  7. Maintain accurate inventory levels to meet JIT demands and maintain production and cost targets.
  8. Manage changepoints in forecast, production modifications, and Supply Chain disruptions while championing continuous improvement.
  9. Assesses future model changeover activity as it relates to new and obsolete part designs. Takes ownership of new part delivery and system creation for ownership transfer to mass production.
  10. Guide project-based work from start to finish, meeting timelines set and cost goals.
  11. Oversee external aspects that impact the daily operational flow of the N/A and CKD Supply Chain.
  12. Maintain positive results as the point of contact for suppliers, cross docks, and other external facilities.
  13. Assess the financial obligations with SAP receiving suppliers, vendors, and transportation companies.
  14. Maintain other processes through the third-party venders such as part quality sorts, body repack operations, and shuttle movement.
  15. All other duties as assigned by the Manager or Group Leader.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Supply Chain management, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field plus 1 - 3 years of relevant experience, or verifiable experience in a Supply Chain/manufacturing environment for 5+ years
  • Experience in end-to-end Supply Chain operations, including supplier management, internal and external logistics, inventory control, and component parts management.
  • Demonstrated ability to fulfill the above operational responsibilities, ensure the deliverables and achieve business objectives.
  • Highly motivated, articulate, detail oriented, analytical, with a well-developed emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated ability to make critical decisions independently which supports the department's responsibilities and goals.

Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or 5+ years relevant experience.
    • Supply Chain Management or related field
  • Advanced in Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic knowledge of Data analysis and Power BI.

Work Hours:
This position works in alignment with 2nd shift production hours and is subject to overtime to meet demands of production, which may include scheduled weekends, shutdowns, and daily overtime to meet department goals and deadlines. This position does not currently allow for remote work opportunities.
