The New Jewish Home is a comprehensive, mission-driven nonprofit health care system serving older adults of all faiths, ethnicities, and income levels.

The New Jewish Home also has a workforce development program, SkillSpring. Since 2006, the SkillSpring program of The New Jewish Home has supported New York City youth and young adults from under-resourced schools and areas in pursuit of careers in health care. SkillSpring is training the next generation of high-quality, culturally competent health care professionals while generating excitement and enthusiasm for career opportunities in health care serving older adults.

SkillSpring is currently looking to hire an Associate Director, reporting to the Director. This role is full time and requires some mornings, evenings and Saturdays at multiple sites. Hours, days and locations fluctuate based on seasonal changes which is scheduled out in advance.

Job Summary: The Associate Director of SkillSpring will manage SkillSpring’s youth and young adult development programs. Programs include: HHA and CNA certifications, internship programs; performance workshops; community outreach; alumni engagement and volunteerism with the programs. The Associate Director partners with the Director to ensure the quality of all program activities, and will lead, manage and develop program staff and volunteers to create vibrant programming for underserved young people and adults across the Tri State area.

Reports To: SkillSpring Director

Duties and Responsibilities:

· Partner with Director, in managing, and implement all aspects of programs/activities including but not limited to: recruiting students and employers, participate in budget creating reports and statistics as needed.

· Recruit, hire, manage and develop staff, consultants and interns.

· Assist in development of curricula to support college prep, high school graduation, healthcare certification, alumni programming, college support and workshops.

· Support in developing and maintaining relationships with key strategic school, community and organization partners in the education, career development, intergenerational programming, and college support and youth development fields to ensure enrollment and retention of students/participants.

· Lead the advancement of existing community and HS partners and creation of new ones.

· Collaborate with Development to identify, solicit, cultivate and increase number of government grants and donors, and to obtain/increase their gifts for program fundraising goals via conferences, workshops, panel participation, etc.) and management of monies received.

· Develop and maintain relationships with THNJ Leadership and departments and attend relevant meetings and retreats.

· Performs other related duties as required.

· Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills required.

· Demonstrated skill working with high-need/underserved high school students and young adults.

· Self-directed; able to work independently.

· Ability to prepare and deliver high level presentations, write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

· Must be able to lead innovative and meaningful programming that connects to participants.

· Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

· Excellent organizational and computer skills.

· Proven ability to apply independent judgment in planning, prioritizing, and organizing multiple tasks and paying attention to details and time management.

· Flexibility and adaptability a must.

· Ability to manage multiple stakeholder relationships.

Age Related Skills and Competencies:

· Able to satisfactorily relate to the older adult population.

· Ability to satisfactorily relate to youth oriented age population.

Job Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred. Background and training in Social Work, Education, Student Counseling, Psychology, Human Resources or other related field preferred.

· Minimum 5 to 7 years of supervisory experience.

· Proven track record in fundraising and grants management.

· Experience working with youth from underserved communities.

Physical Demands:

· Flow of Work and character of duties involves normal mental and visual attention along with manual coordination.

· Works in lighted, heated and ventilated areas.

· Subject to frequent interruptions to work flow.

· Performance of duties will require regular periods of time involving sitting, standing or walking.

· Ability to work at a computer for sustained periods of time.

· Required to stand and talk or hear, walk and sit. Lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

· Required to travel to all JHL campuses and program sites outside of JHL.
