High School students considered for internship positions at Tucson Proving Ground should have a basic understanding and interest in large mining equipment like Haul Trucks, Bulldozers, and Motor Graders. All positions require working in a team environment and demonstrating quality customer service. You will partner with and be mentored by an experienced technician with responsibilities that vary from job to job but may include;
- Operating a wash rack to make sure equipment is clean before entering the workshop
- Diagnosing and repairing a piece of mining equipment
- Instrumenting a machine for test using strain gages, thermocouples, and accelerometers
- Fabricating and welding prototype parts for test
In addition, successful performance requires sound judgment, motivation, effective interaction with others, and the ability to handle various responsibilities.
These positions are open to rising juniors (C/O 2026) in High School currently enrolled and in good academic standing at Sahuarita High School.
Basic Qualifications
- Must have a Safety First mentality.
- Must Be 16 years of age and rising juniors by start of program.
- Must have and maintain a 2.5 / 4.0 cumulative GPA.
- Must be a full-time student attending a High School in the Sahuarita school district.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must be able to work 40 hours per week during summer program.

These are Full-time temporary openings in the Tucson Proving Ground located in the Green Valley, AZ area. Relocation is not available.
