Do you have a passion for working with kids and creating a fun safe environment for them to learn and grow? YDC has the perfect position for you! This is a Full time, Year around position that provides after school help with academics and experiences that will help them learn about sports, and other fun activities that they can use as they grow. Lead a team of Mentors and engage with the communities and schools to give these kids and experience that they will take with them forever!
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT:
Develop and implement a daily program schedule that provides participants with a fun, high quality, and enriching out-of-school experience.
Ensure program and service delivery are done with consistent quality and in alignment with the Weikart Methods and National Afterschool Association Core Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies.
Intentionally incorporate Social Emotional Learning throughout participant experience.
Ensure the program environment is emotionally and physically safe for all participants and staff,including awareness and knowledge of all emergency procedures.
Create and foster relationships with community program partners.
Facilitate the Assess, Plan, Improve framework to continuously advance program quality, using Hello Insight and the Youth Program Quality Assessments
Position Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Have earned a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Preference given:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a child-related field
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development
- Must obtain MiSAYD Certification or Credential
- Must have 480 hours of experience working as a caregiver in a program serving school-age children that meets the requirements of State Licensing.
- Have completed 15 clock hours, 1 semester hour, or 1.5 CEUs of documented school-age training.
- Must possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License
- Current first Aid/CPR Certification (or within 3 months of employment)
- At least one year experience working with youth in a formal or informal setting
- Strong Math and English skills (K-12).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Knowledge of innovative instructional delivery techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to lead/guide staff and youth participants effectively
- Maintain a high level of communication
- Must have reliable transportation to and from the program site.
- Must be able to travel among our centers when needed
- Must possess an optimistic, outgoing, and enthusiastic personality
- Highly recommended to be able to teach a specific skill to small groups, which includes but is not limited to : performing arts, visual arts, sports, speaking a foreign language, cooking, photography, robotics etc.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
