JOB TITLE:Youth SportsSupervisor &DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Recreation

Preschool Clinic Coach-Part-time

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

Responsible for leading 6-week Preschool Clinics for basketball, soccer, and baseball; supervising youth league practices and games.


REPORTS TO: Recreation Director


DESCRIPTION:

  • Works with Recreation Coordinator in designing and implementing age-appropriate clinic lesson plans.
  • Coaching 6-week Preschool Clinics for basketball, soccer, and baseball during their designated seasons.
  • Maintaining a fun, safe, and educational clinic environment.
  • Emphasizing skills development including safety, fair play, and sportsmanship.
  • Maintaining sports equipment.
  • Site supervising weekly Youth Sports practices at Oak Park Elementary Schools and City of Oak Park fields.
  • Site supervises weekly youth games during each sport season including facilities located in the Quad City Youth Sports League.
  • Handle emergency situations in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Report any situations immediately to the Recreation Coordinator.
  • May be asked to perform other duties related to day-to-day operation of the department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • In-depth knowledge of basketball, soccer, and baseball rules and skills.
  • Must be physically able to perform duties as assigned.
  • Initiative and resourcefulness in problem solving.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with volunteer coaches and parents.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Experience working with preschool aged children required.
  • Previous experience as a youth basketball coach preferred.
  • Possess First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid Michigan Driver's License

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must have enthusiasm and a passion for working with children ages 3-5 years old.
  • Be available for all dates of assignments.
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Ability to lift equipment of at least twenty-five pounds.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and complete Safe Sport Training.

SALARY RANGE - This is a temporary part-time position (December through March) with an hourly minimum rate of $18.00.
