Plans, organizes, and directs all aspects of clinical services within the Family Practice and Urgent Care settings, as well as overseeing the clerical aspects of the departments.

- Provides leadership and an example of HCMH standards of performance at all times
- Manages the selection and training/orientation of departmental personnel. Initiates and promotes staff development and continuing education programs.
- Directly supervises clinical and clerical staff
- Assists physicians and provides patient education as directed by physicians.
- Evaluates performance and recommends merit increases, promotions and disciplinary actions for clinical staff.
Demonstrates a high level of mental and emotional tolerance and even temperament when dealing with ill people; uses tact, sensitivity, sound judgment, and a professional attitude when relating with patients, families, and co-workers at all times. Actively functions as a patient advocate. Must have thorough knowledge of management and organizational theory to direct the operation of the clinical department. Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee development to train, delegate and mentor staff. Knowledge of medical safety practices and standard requirements to evaluate existing standards and implement new procedures. Knowledge of the principles of finance and budgeting to develop and manage the budget. Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of clinical management. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in preparing records, writing reports and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and direct the work of others. Ability to communicate clearly in writing and verbally. Must develop knowledge of current hospital emergency policies and procedures, fire, safety, disaster, and infection control policies.
Requirements:
Three (3) years of office experience including one (1) year at the supervisory level.
