Job Description
Our company is looking to fill the role of Site EHS specialist. Please review the list of responsibilities and qualifications. While this is our ideal list, we will consider candidates that do not necessarily have all of the qualifications, but have sufficient experience and talent.
Responsibilities for EHS specialist
- Maintain an updated and satisfactory Safety Policy, Safety Statement and Safety Manual
- Ensure effective EH&S training of all employees
- Monitor EH&S performance on-site through regular audits, checks and inspections
- Co-ordinate the setting of EH&S goals on-site
- Carry out on-site risk assessments
- Ensure adequate monitoring of all significant safety risks throughout the plant including, ergonomics, hazardous environments, chemicals, fumes vapors, noise, mechanical, electrical, biological and radiological exposures
- Organize and chair regular safety committee meetings
- Review method statements, permit contractors, undertake contractor inductions and maintain records of contractors
Qualifications for EHS specialist
- Completion of a degree or certificate in occupational health and safety, safety sciences or a related field
- A minimum of 5 years practical safety experience in a previous role
- Assists in the development and maintenance of EHS policies, procedures, and methods to drive overall EHS performance excellence
- Supports EHS in driving and sustaining a comprehensive and pro-active safety culture
- Assists in the development of EHS processes and procedures that reduce accidents, injuries and losses and prevents regulatory violations
- Participate in EHS committee meetings as a technical resource
