JOB TITLE: SITE DIRECTOR
It Takes a Village Family of Schools is currently seeking qualified applicants for Site Director in the Austin area for our early childhood education programs. It Takes a Village Family of Schools is a pipeline educational system that currently consists of three directly operated early childhood centers, eight HS partner sites, an independent K-8th grade social justice elementary school, and a workforce development training institute. ITAV is dedicated to providing comprehensive educational and case management services to low income families and children.
SUMMARY:
The Site Director is responsible for supporting teachers and teacher assistants in overseeing all early childhood educational and operations matters at this Austin location. Please find a summary of the position responsibilities below:
Hire, engage and develop a quality team of educators to be passionate and committed professionals
Submit all required paperwork to the Department of Children and Family Services.
Notify the department of changes
Maintain personnel and client files.
Ensure that activities of the center are in compliance with DCFS standards, including menus.
Notify parents of emergency situations.
Provide ongoing training regarding DCFS standards.
Organize and facilitate staff training and weekly meetings (teachers, assistants, aides, cooks, etc.).
Be available to receive feedback from: family support, mental health, educational coordinator, nutritionist, health consultant, ERSEA and disabilities consultants.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
The Site Director works under the supervision of the Director of ECE Programs and ECE
Program manager.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Serve as a liaison between the center and Executive Director of Programs.
Hire and terminate staff.
Maintain payroll records.
Supervise children who are ill.
Supervise the cleaning and sanitizing of the center and playground equipment.
Regularly supervise staff and create action plans for improvement.
Assist staff in creating yearly professional development plans and provide substitutes.
Provide brief orientations for substitute teachers.
Offer suggestions for improvements or professional development based upon observations.
Complete three classroom observations with feedback per year, prior to yearly performance evaluations.
Maintain a monthly contact sheet for 04 teachers.
Work with teachers to plan activities for staff.
Participate in staffing when necessary
Maintain binders programming support binders (i.e. staff training, professional development and lesson plans).
Provide feedback on lesson plans
Plan and facilitate parent meetings.
Attend director’s meetings (all sites, CPS, Ounce) and report back to the Program Director.
Maintain a positive relationship with staff members.
Open and close center.
Be willing to work long hours when necessary.
Attend professional developments to enhance performance.
Complete a reflective supervision log – minimum of one entry per week.
Willingness to complete coursework or professional developments necessary for Illinois Director’s Credential.
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The director must be at least 21 years of age and have a bachelor's degree
The director must also have 18 semester or 27 quarter hours in courses related directly to child care and/or child development from birth to age six. These qualifications may also be obtained through the completion of a credentialing program approved in accordance with the Department of Children and Family Services.
The director must be willing to work under the guidelines outlined by the owners of the center and Executive Director of the Programs.
The director also must be able to demonstrate the skill and competence necessary to contribute to each child’s physical, intellectual, personal, emotional, and social development. Some of these factors include:

Physical and mental health that do not interfere with child care responsibilities.

Use of positive discipline and guidance techniques.
Ability to provide an environment in which children, families and staff feel comfortable, relaxed, able to take risks, happy and involved
