Job Description:
Budget Title: Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator (SL-3)
Salary: $53,151 - $65,000
Binghamton University is searching for a Site Designer to work closely with our Licensed Landscape Architect and Site/Civil Designer to assist with planning, design, and construction administration of projects on the main and satellite campuses. The candidate will work with campus community members, under the supervision of a Landscape Architect, to establish project scopes, develop concept designs that reflect established budgets, refine designs into biddable construction drawings, and monitor construction.
This position will focus heavily on the horticultural side of site design projects on campus and will work closely with the Grounds Department. Candidate will spend time analyzing and monitoring the layout and health of existing vegetation and make recommendations for improvements to existing campus plantings. They will also focus on planting plans for new projects that are based on current best management practices for horticulture, including the use of appropriate native plants, which is becoming a standard for new projects on campus to help us meet recently established sustainability goals. Ideal candidate would have experience in both horticulture and site design to assist with the development of projects that attain a balance of practical, unique, and innovative design.
Requirements:

- Associates degree in a Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related program or field
- Two to three years' experience working as a Site Designer in capital project design, or related field
- Extensive Horticulture knowledge of plants appropriate to upstate New York climate
- AutoCAD and/or Auto CAD Civil 3D and/or Revit proficiency
- Technical knowledge of design and construction industries
- Ability to comprehend construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to create full construction drawing packages using AutoCAD without the need for drafting support from others
- MS Word and Excel proficiency
Preferred:
- Bachelor's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or related program or field
- Three years or more experience working on institutional/college campus related projects
- Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; strong organizational skills; estimating and project scheduling software experience; specification writing experience; experience creating accurate and complete cost estimates for site work projects
- Experience working with New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Storm Water Management requirements and inspection procedures
- Experience creating 3D Models using a range of modeling programs
