Shifts: Part Time and Split Shifts available – Before School and After School Programs
Schedule: Monday-Friday – School Year Calendar
Reports to: Kid’s World Director
Start Date: Immediately pending pre-employment federal background check, fingerprinting, physical and TB test.
POSITION SUMMARY:
School Age Child Care Site Coordinator (SACC) supervises children in the before/after school programs at our various school sites located in the Elmira, Elmira Heights, Horseheads & Spencer VanEtten School Districts. Duties include planning and facilitating activities, assisting with homework, preparing healthy snacks, and ensuring that all student needs are being met.
Qualifications:
2 years of college with 18 credits in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field with 2 years direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age, including at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Actively supervise and engage with children in your care, responding to their needs in a positive and engaging manner.
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
- Monitor and be actively involved with the children.
- Take the lead in helping children organize activities for the children as individuals and in groups.
- Works closely with the Kids World Director and Assistant Kid’s World Director.
- Ensure the safety and security of children at all times. This includes observing sign-in and out procedures, checking identification, ensuring all policies and procedures are followed.
- Assist students in completing homework assignments.
- Set up and prepare snacks for program participants.
- Develop and maintain a high level of communication and positive relationships with the School Age Child Care Site (SACC) team at the site and families.
- Handle discipline/behavior issues in accordance with the YWCA behavior management procedures and promptly communicate with parents/guardians regarding their child’s progress and behavior.
- Develop and execute detailed daily lesson plans, activities, and events based on accepted practices that promote quality experiences, fun, and skill-based learning.
- Know and review all emergency procedures and respond to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YWCA policies, procedures, and completes related reports as required.
- Maintain program records and reports (behavioral reports, incident reports, emergency cards, attendance sheets, fire drills, etc.).
- Knows, understands, and consistently applies safety rules, policies, and guidelines for all School Age Child Care (SACC) programs. This includes the YWCA’s Child Abuse Prevention protocols.
- Maintain a clean and safe room/area.
- Attending all required meetings, in-service, and training sessions.
- Annual physical examination required.
- Background Check required.
- Follow all childcare regulations.
- All other duties as assigned.
