Job Details

The KC135 BOSS Sim Mx Tech applies advanced knowledge and experience to solve unusually complex or system problems; those that typically are not able to be solved solely by reference to maintenance manuals or similar documents. Contractor Operations and Maintenance Support (COMS) personnel are fully qualified, trained, and knowledgeable in the KC135 BOSS logistics support, maintenance, and operation of the training system. KC135 BOSS Sim Mx Tech will document discrepancy reporting forms as required. At this level, the incumbent has demonstrated the ability to solve a variety of complex simulator and or aircraft system problems. Perform as the liaison between company and ANG customer and the KC135 BOSS program for all site support for site training devices. Individuals shall possess a DoD approved cybersecurity baseline certification commensurate to category and level of the assigned position. *THIS IS A PART TIME POSITION WITH NO GUARANTEE OF HOURS*   

Qualifications

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Operate the instructor station if a trainee is in the BOSS during contractor duty hours for non-DMO training.
  • For DMO training, the Sim Mx Tech will: modify the BOSS to operate on DMO; Operate the BOSS during DMO training; modify the BOSS to the unclassified status when DMO training is complete.
  • Provide for operation of training devices or assistance in training operations. These include, but are not limited to, device power-up and shut down, periodic readiness checks and inspections, assisting trainees and instructors in operating devices during training, and supporting user-directed activities such as investigations, test and demonstrations, tours, etc.
  • Support the BOSS device during Government MAF DMO operations and ANG Duty Weekend training.
  • Provide BOSS trainer maintenance and repair which support the availability requirements.
  • Perform applicable on-equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, replacement of parts, disassembly/reassembly, calibration, testing, and operational checks to correct training device malfunctions and verify proper serviceable condition of any component, system, or subsystem of the training device and training aids.
  • Document total maintenance support on BOSS support equipment and components, including tests, alignments, and adjustments.
  • Maintenance concepts may include, but are not limited to, on-site, on-call, and/or telephone assistance-type services.
  • Responsible for maintaining the RSS/T-BOSS components that include environmental control system (heating/cooling); entry way, including camera.
  • Applies comprehensive technical knowledge to solve complex problems, those typically solved by properly interpreting maintenance manuals or similar documents.
  • Assists in the design of minor hardware system modifications and software programs to stay current with aircraft configuration and to improve simulator operability.
  • Conducts quality control inspections and inspects maintenance work performed.
  • Maintains required documentation of maintenance activities.
  • Monitors and tracks the repair status of inoperative equipment and document maintenance activities utilizing the logistics management database system. (Documenting maintenance activities include but is not limited to work order generation and updates, repair action documentation, issuing, returning, and adjusting inventory, ensuring inventory records are up to date and accurate, and other material control duties as assigned.)
  • Works with program TSSC Engineering regarding non-standard situations.
  • Recommends changes based on knowledge and experience.
  • Applies fundamental troubleshooting procedures in the maintenance of interfaces and peripheral equipment used with computers.
  • Interprets mechanical, electrical, and electronic schematics and drawings and makes simplified versions.
  • Conducts voice communications on phone, inter-phone, and radio circuits.
  • Provides networking and information systems support on training devices and networks.
  • Maintains good relations with customers and ensures information flows within technical organization.
  • Implements basic hardware and software modifications to existing simulators.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a civilian or military basic electronic program.
  • Three to five years’ experience as a flight SIMULATOR MAINTENANCE TECHnician or equivalent.
  • Experience in conducting practical training in checking, repairing, and calibrating critical solid-state devices.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Position requires a minimum IAT I certification level, a DoD approved cybersecurity baseline certification.

Compliance with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures. Personally responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials, in any form, produced by the incumbent. Shall be assigned specific responsibility for Information Security by immediate supervisor or department management. Shall not divulge any information, or afford access, to other employees not having a need-to-know. Shall not divulge information outside company without management approval. Incumbent shall execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

Qualifications

  • Must have good knowledge of computer networks.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use and operation of test equipment to perform pre- and post-operational tests on installed equipment to perform preventive maintenance using preventative maintenance cards and instruction books.
  • Must possess advanced skills necessary to diagnose and isolate malfunctions in electronic systems; align, adjust, and calibrate installed training devices; interpret mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic schematics and prepare simplified versions.
  • Must possess advanced skills to perform calibrations, adjustments, and tests on electronic equipment; analyze operation, verify discrepancies, isolate malfunctions, and replace defective components used in installed devices.
  • Must possess and maintain advanced proficiency in the use of diagnostic programs, interpretation of results, and the use of program listings to isolate faults and be adept in the use of test equipment, repair of micro/¬miniature printed circuit boards, electro/mechanical systems, and devices to include projection display systems, computer-controlled motion and electronic control loading systems and computer-generated sound systems.
  • Must be highly proficient in the use of diagnostic programs, interpretation of results and use of program listings to isolate faults.
  • Must be skilled at use and operation of test equipment, including “O” scopes, frequency counters, volt/ohm meters and range calibration set.
  • Must be able to perform routine preventive maintenance using maintenance requirement cards and instructional manuals; perform daily system readiness test, pre-operational and post-operational checkouts.
  • Must exhibit high performance and capability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to drive a forklift, man-lift, or other support equipment as required if trained and certified to operate.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Must be able to effectively deliver oral presentations to management and customers.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.
  • Must be willing to work any shift or day of the week as required.
  • Must be eligible for DoD Personnel Security Clearance.

Language Skills

Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex words and technical documents/diagrams. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret English language professional journals, technical procedures, government specifications or industry standards. Will be required to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries and complaints. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers. Must be able to generate effective oral and written presentations and proposals on complex subjects.

 

Mathematical Skills

Must be able to calculate figures and amounts, prices, commissions, and percentages, and to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to produce, understand, and interpret mathematical equations and algorithms associated with simulation modeling and design.

 

Reasoning Ability

Must be able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and crawl on top or under the device.
  • Must be able to detect odors or hear noises, bangs, etc., or other sounds to detect problems or flaws in the functioning of simulators and its surrounding environment.
  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • Domestic and international travel as required.

  • Will be working in areas with risk of electrical shock from moving mechanical parts driven by hydraulics under high pressure.
