SIMULATION AND GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER, Materials Science and Engineering (DMSE)-Virtual Manufacturing Laboratory (VM-Lab), to join the VM-Lab, a multi-year, interdisciplinary project to teach students vital skills and knowledge about cutting-edge microchip manufacturing technology. Will join a small team including a project lead/game designer, another programmer, and subject matter experts in photonics and advanced manufacturing. Game art and audio resources will also be provided. The games and simulations will be integrated into coursework for students and published at conferences. Responsibilities include designing, coding, testing, and deploying web-based 2D and 3D simulations and games using Unity; ensuring the software’s performance, quality, and responsiveness; identifying and fixing bugs; collaborating on designing simulations and games; participating in the iterative design and development process of making simulations and games; presenting development builds and representing VM-Lab at conferences/events; engaging with the wider MIT community that is focused on accelerating digital and virtual teaching experiences; developing technical documentation; and performing other duties as assigned.
