Sign Data Field Surveyor

We are seeking to hire full-time Sign Data Field Surveyors, with an immediate start date. The job role is based primarily in the field, collecting data on traffic signs, and building sign inventories. The position requires field work, traveling to different cities, overnight stays (sometimes for an extended period). We need someone who is tech-savvy, has impeccable attention-to-detail skills, and extensive experience with collecting and processing data.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform work activities for street/traffic sign inventory, data collection, and sign installation.
• Perform the physical task of testing traffic signs for retro-reflectivity.
• Report of information related to data collection activities.
• Assist in organizing the collection of traffic sign-related data.
• Read and interpret maps, routes, plans, and specifications.
• Must be a quick learner and able to use smartphone applications.
• Must be able to stand and sit for extended periods.
• Must be able to climb up and down a ladder multiple times a day.
• Must be able to move in and around the area, up and down stairs, walking over uneven pavement, asphalt, or dirt.
• Must be able to climb, lift, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms.
• Clear vision (close, distant, peripheral, and depth perception).
• May be exposed to extreme weather conditions such as extreme heat or cold/rain.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Requires a High School Diploma; College Education is a Plus.
• Any exposure to surveying, and/or the Traffic Control industry is a Plus.
• One (1) year of vocational or college courses in technology; AND two (2) years of related field or office experience in traffic control; OR any equivalent combination of education and/or experience which provides the skills, knowledge, and ability necessary to perform the work.
• Previous fieldwork or traffic control experience is a Plus (Preferred).
• Must pass job-related tests.
• A valid CA Driver's License is required.
• A clean driving record is required (we will verify this with our Insurance).
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Critical thinking is required to perform well in this role.
• Must be aware of the safety practices and hazards working in the field.
• Good awareness of the surroundings.
• Must be versatile and a team player.
• Basic mathematics.
• Must be able to keep focus on repetitive tasks.
• Good communication skills.
• Work independently and organize workload.
• Reliable personality with leadership skills.
• Good at learning how to use new tech gadgets.
• Must be able to follow directions.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
