Position Overview:
This position works under the general supervision of the Project Manager and is required to be able to operate a variety of transit-type vehicles. The primary mission of a Professional Shuttle Bus Driver/Operator is to transport passengers along a predefined route, and to provide such service in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner. He/She also is responsible to provide written reports as required by management and/or the contract provider (Accident or Incident Reports, Passenger counts, Vehicle Inspection Reports, etc.) or other written documentation related to the performance of their job and/or the vehicle that they drive.
Education/Experience/Requirements:
• Must have a commercial Class A or B license with airbrakes AND passenger endorsements (an absolute must).
• Must have at least two (2) - three (3) years of commercial BUS driving experience.
• School Pupil Activity Bus (SPAB) certificate (School bus cert is acceptable)
• Must have at least two (2) - three (3) years of commercial BUS driving experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a clean driving record.
• Must have a current H6 print-out (no older than 30 days old), showing no more than one (1) point within the last 12 months or two (2) points within the last 36 months.
• Must have a current/unexpired DMV Medical Green Card.
• Must be able to work various shifts, M-F, weekends.
• Exemplary customer service experience.
• Must be qualified to work in the United States.
• Must be able to complete and pass a background check.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Transport passengers along an assigned route, making designated stops as required.
• Provides requested and/or pertinent information to passengers without ever displaying any negative or hostile attitude.
• Completes written reports as required on vehicular deficiencies, accidents, incidents, and other issues as may be required from time to time.
• Ensures that His/Her Commercial driving status remains active, current and in good standing.
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable to his/her job.
• Notifies management of any safety and health rule violations that he/she may find and/or observes.
Required Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:
• Read, write and speak English to the extent necessary in order to perform his/her essential responsibilities.
• Must posses good communication skills and be able to handle the public in a courteous non-hostile manner.
• Must maintain a clean driving record.
• Must be able to work various shifts (day, evening, nights, weekends) as available.
• Must be able to communicate courteously and clearly with other drivers, staff and customers.
• Professional and positive attitude.
• Good Ambassador for the company and client.
• Positive and flexible attitude.
• Excellent ability to communicate (verbal and written).
• Exceptional driving skills.
• Strong listening skills.
• Ability to read and work with a variety of maps, directions, schedules, drawings, and graphics.
• Ability to work with all members of a widely diverse community tactfully and professionally.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background screening including DOT-regulated drug test and physical.
