JOB TITLE: Shipping and Receiving Materials Handler

DEPARTMENT: Materials

REPORTS TO: Todd Meadows

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

SHIFT: Day

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shipping and Receiving Materials Handler is a self-starter and a team player. The handler manages incoming and outgoing orders, supports production and customer service, and is consistent in delivering quality work for the materials department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with domestic and international shipping & receiving goods/materials and checking in merchandise.
  • Prepare orders by processing requests and supply orders; pulling materials; packing boxes; placing orders in delivery area.
  • Tracking and coordinating the receipt of goods and materials, ensuring proper handling and storage requirements.
  • Operate a forklift and pallet jack as needed.
  • Maintain quality service by complying with internal and external policies and procedures.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping shelves, pallet area, and workstations neat; maintaining clean shipping supply area; complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform warehouse inventory controls and counts to ensure accuracy.
  • Contribute to department and company goals by consistently achieving the organization’s needs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing warehouse.
  • Computer savvy, proficiency in Microsoft Office, data entry software, preferably use of ERP software such as Pentagon.
  • Knowledge of import/export laws and customs highly desired.
  • Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts and lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Reliable and Punctual
  • Attention to detail to ensure the safety of self and others.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

- Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying accuracy of contents and comparing to purchase orders
- Unpack, label, and organize received items in designated storage areas
- Prepare outgoing shipments by picking and packing items according to customer orders
- Utilize warehouse management system (WMS) to track inventory and update records
- Operate order picker and RF scanner to locate and retrieve items from warehouse shelves
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely order fulfillment
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety protocols at all times

Skills:
- Basic math skills for counting and verifying quantities of items
- Ability to read and understand order forms, packing slips, and shipping labels
- Familiarity with warehouse distribution processes and procedures
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory tracking
- Experience operating order pickers and RF scanners is preferred but not required
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate order picking and packing
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines

The employee must lift, move, and regularly turn and twist while holding awkward weights of various sizes up to 40 pounds.

· Drug-free working environment. Combination of usual office conditions and manufacturing environment. Some elements in the production area may be present which make conditions less desirable than usually found in an office setting. Employees may occasionally experience exposure to elements such as odor, dust, heat, cold, or chemicals. The production area is a chemical working area; food is not allowed.

· The employee is expected to adhere to all Company policies and to act as a role model in the adherence to policies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
