Shipping / Receiving / Material Handler Job Description:
- Load, unload trucks and move material around the plant
- Empty production scrap into outside hoppers.
- Read work orders, follow oral instructions, count, weigh, and measure items.
- Work with bills of lading, invoices, orders or other records.
- Examine items for damage or shortage and communicate with shipper to rectify.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, dollies, etc., to move stock or reorganize storage.
- Utilize computerized or automated systems to accomplish tasks.
- Transfer to other departments to help.
- Assemble boxes, packages, etc.
- Help as needed with other tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experiences:
- Valid / current state issued driver license.
- Minimum one year Material Handling experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Able to operate forklifts.
- Knowledge of automated / computerized systems.
- Knowledge of safety practices.
- Capable of lifting objects up to 30lbs.
- Can operate forklifts and Material Handling equipment in tight / congested areas.
- Skilled in both verbal and written communication.
Working Conditions:
- Exposed to machine operation noise in a manufacturing setting.
- Exposed to other moving equipment, nuisance dust, cutting and drawing oils.
- Able to stand, walk, pull/push objects and bend to the floor.
